Why even Big Media cannot save Democrats from November Election Losses Rivaling Republicans’ Watergate Tsunami

No, it’s not too early to make predictions on the size of Democrats’ federal House and Senate election losses. Why? Because they have two large albatrosses around their necks named Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Democrats’ November losses will likely rival the unprecedented Republican losses in November of 1974 following the Nixon resignation when Democrats gained 49 House seats and five Senate seats.

Why is it not too early to predict a rising Republican tsunami in November? There are two reasons, but the Ukraine war is not one of them. The two factors are, first, the widespread public disgust at the transparent incompetence of President-in-name-only Joe Biden, and second, the real pain caused to poor and middle-class families by the galloping Inflation which the Biden White House has tried to blame on none but Vladimir Putin!

“Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on me!” In 2021, Russian oil and gas imports accounted for less than 1% of America’s daily consumption. But halting that import caused a giant spike in retail gasoline prices, as the White House claimed after Biden added Russian oil and gas to the sanctions against Russia? Gimme a break!

Joe Trucker and Sandra Restaurateur are not buying it, and in fact, they feel insulted by the White House effort. Price inflation for retail products at the national level was already soaring above a 7% annual rate in December of 2021, weeks before anyone started worrying about what Putin would do in Ukraine.

Yes, the Ukraine war is a political wild card that many pundits think will help Biden, as voters are often reluctant to undermine a “war president.” But that’s yet another problem for the Democrats: Biden is not a “war president,” he is an incompetent leader who nearly everyone worries may yet get the United States into a wider war with Russia.  And Vice President Kamala Harris? Even most Democrats cringe at the thought of Harris in charge of … well, anything.

Who can forget that the Biden White House vigorously resisted adding Russian oil and gas to the list of sanctions announced the day after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, despite the fact that those regular U.S. purchases were adding tens of millions of dollars each week to Russia’s treasury, and thus, to Putin’s war machine?

But then, suddenly, the White House reversed course and added Russian oil and gas to the sanctions. Two days later we began to hear the new insult to the intelligence of American consumers: “Putin is to blame for the steep rise in gasoline prices!…” and groceries, rent, health care, clothing?  Americans aren’t buying it.

The problem for Big Media is that rising rates of inflation were impacting people’s family budgets months before Joe Biden could find Ukraine on a map, and  Americans know that, even if the producers at CNN and NPR do not. Big Media, despite its best efforts, is powerless to change the average American voter’s picture of Joe Biden as an incompetent White House interloper and congressional Democrats as his partners in crime.

Big Media has tried to support Biden’s Big Lie, that the Ukraine war is responsible for not only inflation in gas prices but other inflation impacts as well. But Americans are not that stupid. Big Media has met its match. Come November 8, Progressives will be looking for a new dance partner.
