Washington, D.C. — The New York Times published an essay that called on President Joe Biden to create a “truth commission” and appoint a “reality czar.”
The author, Kevin Roose, claims “experts” suggested Biden assemble a task force “to tackle disinformation and domestic extremism” led by a “reality czar.” The multi-agency task force “could coordinate a single, strategic response,” one expert claimed.
Harvard University’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy research director, Joan Donovan, put forward the idea of the “truth commission.” The commission would “investigate the planning and execution of the Capitol siege,” according to the essay.
The scope of such a commission is unlikely to stay focused solely on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. This commission could quickly become a tool for the government to monitor and silence their political enemies.
The essay goes further. It suggests the government seize the power to audit social media algorithms of companies like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
Roose claimed the experts he spoke with “warned that tech platforms alone couldn’t bring back the millions of already radicalized Americans, nor is teaching media literacy a silver bullet to prevent dangerous ideas from taking hold.”
Roose also discussed the use of so-called “de-escalation” ads used by Moonshot CVE. The company ran ads on Google and Twitter “targeting high-risk potential violent extremists with empathetic messages about mental health and mindfulness.”
These suggestions fit right in with the ongoing discussion of how to “deprogram” Trump supporters — an idea being pushed by the liberal media.
Roose, Donovan, and these other “experts” do not believe in freedom of thought. If you see the world through a conservative lens, you need to be fixed. If you supported former President Donald Trump at any point, you need to be deprogrammed and re-educated because that line of thinking is incorrect and unacceptable to people like Roose.
The goal of this commission and task force is to “correct” the way people think. Together, they create a propaganda arm for the government that declares what opinions are correct, and which are not, and that holds the power to enforce those assertions. There is nothing free or Democratic about it.
