Baseball is Back in Texas: Rangers to Allow 100% Attendance

Arlington, TX — Baseball is back in Texas! The Rangers plan to allow 100 percent attendance on Opening Day of the 2021 baseball season.

It is the second year the Rangers will play at their new $1.2 million field. However, it is the first time 40,000 fans are invited to fill Globe Life Field for the home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 5.

The Rangers are asking fans to wear a mask except when eating and drinking. Governor Greg Abbott recently rescinded Texas’ statewide mask mandate, as well as the majority of executive orders he issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rangers hosted three rounds of post-season games, the NLCS championship, and the World Series in 2020. The park was restricted to 25 percent attendance for the games.

Neil Leibman, the Rangers’ president of business, said, “The Rangers are encouraged that the Governor’s Office has given clearance for us to fully open Globe Life Field at the start of the 2021 Major League Baseball season.”

Socially distanced seating will be available after Opening Day.
