California Mother Organized Group Pushing to Open Schools Now

Sacramento, CA — California mother, Jessica Taggart, organized a group of students and parents that is pushing to open schools called Open Los Angeles Schools Now.

The Daily Caller spoke with Taggart and her son about the issue.

Taggart’s son said he “can speak from experience” that at-home learning is hurting students, citing multiple reasons it is “a big disconnect.” He even admitted that it is “taking a toll on his mental health.”

Taggart also talked about the toll that online learning was having on her daughter, who is reportedly struggling with her grades after the switch to online learning. She pointed to the science of the matter, something the left loves to claim they do, and made it clear that children should be in school.

“Look at the data. You know you say follow the science, but you can’t pick and choose your science. Follow the science. Everybody American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC, everybody says kids should be in school.”

Despite these advisements from experts, Taggart said that California is not following suit, and that is what led her to form the coalition.

  1. “Hang on help is on the way”. The petition to recall Newsom is way over the number of needed signatures.

  2. I get that kids need contact with others. But many families have been home schooling their children very successfully. We did it for two years, and they learned far more than they ever would have learned in public school. There was no issue with online learning and they had no school interaction with others. Everything was done via reading or video. The family supported this education and it was a success.
Also, many of the kids are in sports and other activities, so they do have outside contact with others. For young children it is a huge struggle. But I also think that if the kids can go to school in person, they do it WITHOUT a mask!

  3. Take advantage of the opportunity obstinate teachers are giving you and start a charter school. the kids will learn more with private tutors and you can have control of the curriculum.

  4. Each school district should start the process of hiring new teachers..then watch them flood back. It’s all about the money and power not Covid.
