Acting Capitol Police Chief Wants Permanent Fence to Guard U.S. Capitol

Washington, D.C. — Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman wants a permanent fence to guard the U.S. Capitol building following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The Capitol Police Board designated Pittman Acting Chief on Jan. 8. The board consists of three members, including both the House and Senate Sergeants at Arms and the Architect of the Capitol.

It is not yet clear if permanent fencing will be installed.

The Capitol is currently surrounded by tall, razor-wire covered fencing that is guarded by 6,000 National Guard troops.

The reason to maintain fencing and the National Guard continues to change. It began as a response to the events of Jan. 6, then became a requirement for Biden’s inauguration. After that, Democrat leaders claimed it was necessary to maintain the military presence for protection during the second Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

Now, the goalposts moved again.

Capitol Police reportedly told congressional leaders they want the temporary fence to remain in place until September due to continuing threats.

Not only that, but an email reportedly revealed the Department of Defense is considering using reserve or active duty military to guard the Capitol. We recently wrote about the real reasons Democrats want the military in Washington, D.C. Military security is a staple of authoritarian governments and dictatorships and can serve multiple purposes.

The AP cited an anonymous source and wrote that “the threats range in specificity and credibility.”

“The threats range in specificity and credibility, but they include online chatter about extremist groups potentially returning to Washington and to the Capitol in the coming weeks…”

From the AP

Their source did not elaborate on the potential threats.

The National Guard mission at the Capitol is currently scheduled to end in Mid-March with a $483 million price tag.

  1. GEE, If they want fences it must mean our beloved government is scared of their faithful followers. Wonder WHY. They have done everything they could to screw us, sell us out to China and bankrupt all of us to turn America commie. Maybe they are dreaming of striped sunlight or a neck tie party with themselves as the guest of honor. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

  2. What continuing threats???? Have not seen or heard anything on this other than the BLM and Antifa still continuing with their rhetoric and protests. Is Pelosi scared of her own crew turning against her???? That must be it…..The keeping of the Military troops in DC is it’s own nefarious reasons as we all know.

  3. What a load of feces. This is all for show. There are no threats. Thats a lie to give them an excuse to take more of our rights away.

  4. The only thing the police chief wanting fences to stay proves, is that he is a tyrant at heart like our founders warned us about..

  5. Why is it OK to fence off the Capitol area and leave the southern border wide open? The troops in use could be supplementing the border patrol and finish building the fences there.

  6. Not too long ago the DC cowards were screaming walls do not work let everybody in. Now they want walls fences guards etc. What exactly are you doing that you are afraid we will find out? The following is a quick statement on the fiesco going on in DC…”regarding the Posse Comitatus Act and related DoD regulatory prohibitions on the use of the Title 32 USC 502(f)(2)(A) status to perform direct support to law enforcement and civil disturbance operations in the District of Columbia.”
Further, the AG questioned, “The press release [11 January 2021 White House press release] does not mention Presidential approval for the use of DoD resources in support of civilian law enforcement and civil disturbance operations.

Maj. Gen. McGregor asks, “Was the National Special Security Event (NSSE) security planning process required for the Inauguration ignored or politicized?” He explains:
NSSE Security planning always begins with one thing – A threat assessment. This is fundamental to the planning process as it drives the security resources and commensurate response to secure the event. Put simply, what is the threat, how bad is it, and what do we do about it? DHS did release a “first of its kind” Homeland Threat Assessment October 6, 2020, before the election—an important document that can be used to build a baseline threat appraisal. But the specifics of the event such as location, logistics, geographics, lines of communication, and local jurisdictions require a separate and more detailed review, not to mention a serious update after the January 6 riot. Since this threat assessment is supposed to drive the allocation of every security resource, threat level, and the need for additional background checks, was one completed? From the publicly available reports, it appears that only a limited overall threat assessment was performed beyond the above noted October 2020 DHS Assessment. And it is very possible that it was not updated to incorporate the events of January 6.”

  7. We should never build a fence around the Capitol, we the people own that with our taxes and we pay your salary. We certainly should not fence it before the fence (wall) is completed totally along the border!!!!!
