Trump Dropped $3 Million for Recount in 2 Wisconsin Counties

Madison, WI – President Donald Trump dropped $3 million for a recount in two Wisconsin counties, according to the Associated Press.

The recount will occur in Milwaukee and Dane counties. It must be certified by Dec. 1 and can begin as early as Thursday.

Both counties are traditional Democrat powerhouses. Dane County is home to the University of Wisconsin and liberal capital city, Madison. Milwaukee County is home to 950,000 people and is the largest county in the state.

County clerks in the state estimated a full recount would cost $7.9 million. Any unused funds will be refunded to the Trump campaign.

Voters cast over 790,000 votes for Joe Biden and Trump in the two counties. Biden received 577,455 votes, and Trump received 213,157. The current results show Biden won the state by 20,608 votes.

A recount requested by Green Party candidate Jill Stein in 2016 netted Trump an additional 131 votes.

It is unlikely the recount will significantly change the results in Wisconsin. That said, the recount should help to alleviate American’s concerns over voter fraud.

There is nothing controversial about wanting to confirm the integrity of elections.

Americans need to know that only legal votes counted and every legal vote was counted correctly. If that takes a $3 million recount in Wisconsin, so be it.
