Political Irony or Profound Idiocy? You Decide

1.   The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.

2.   An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.

3.   Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs.

Idiocy

1.   Extreme folly or stupidity.

2.   A foolish or stupid utterance or deed.

3.   The state of being an idiot; natural absence or marked defect of understanding; mental imbecility. See idiot.

The world these days seems to be overrun with political irony or profound idiocy. It has become so prevalent and intense that it is hard to know which is which – or if both terms apply at the same time.

For example, I just listened to PINO (President in Name Only), Joe Biden, defend his decision to impose a travel ban for South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini (yes, there is such a country), Mozambique, and Malawi. 

You probably recall the irony and/or idiocy of this even without the help of the Biden media. When President Trump extended his travel ban to include countries in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe, Candidate Basement Joe Biden tweeted that it was an “African ban” designed to make it harder for black and brown people to move into the United States. 

Immediately after being installed in office, he issued an executive order to repeal all those “racist” bans – which he has now reinstated. 

Next up on the irony-or-idiocy list: PINO Biden’s disruptive, unconstitutional, and apparently now-floundering attempts to force all federal employees and military personnel to get a Covid shot or risk losing their jobs. 

He says almost daily that all Americans should get these shots despite calling the initiative that so quickly developed – President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed – unsafe political theater. So what is this, PINO Joe? Irony or idiocy? Oh, wait… never mind.

It’s also hard to decide between irony and idiocy when PINO begs OPEC to increase oil production in order to reduce gasoline prices after he killed oil pipelines and continues to restrict oil development in this country – oil development that under President Trump had made America an oil exporter free of OPEC’s monopoly for the first time in more than 50 years. 

Of course, political irony and idiocy predate PINO Biden and I think of that every time I hear members of Congress demand more money for the Department of Education – which has of course never educated a single kid (and, ironically, idiotically, has presided over a decline in student academic achievement every year since it was created). 

The same goes for the Department of Energy, which has never produced a barrel of oil and actually now works to reduce the amount of energy produced in the U.S.

Irony or idiocy? Or both?

Then there’s the irony of the woke corporations that, in order to show their devotion to diversity, have essentially made the straight white male unemployable in their commercials despite the fact that their “leadership” remains 90+ percent… straight white males. 

All of these are good examples of ironic idiocy, but the best example I’ve seen in a long time is the German Euthanasia Association, Verin Sterbehilfe. It just announced that it will no longer help people commit suicide unless they are “fully vaccinated” against Covid-19 or recovered from the disease.

As they say, you can’t make this stuff up.
