St. Louis, MO — The number of police officers killed in 2021 increased by 41 percent over last year, according to a report from the Washington Examiner.
A total of 38 officers have been killed in the first six months of 2021. That marks a 41 percent increase over the first six months of 2020, where 27 officers were ruled dead by homicide.
In 2019, 24 officers were killed in the first six months of the year.
Some of the officers were murdered in an incredibly violent fashion this year. According to the Washington Examiner:
Iowa Correctional Officer Robert McFarland was beaten to death with a hammer on March 23, Sgt. Dominic Vaca of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in California was shot dead during an ambush in pursuit of a fleeing motorcyclist on May 31, and Officer Dominic Jared Winum of the Stanley Police Department in Virginia was riddled with bullets during a traffic stop before he could exit his patrol car on Feb. 26.
The increase in violence towards police officers seemingly coincides with increases in violent crime in cities across the country.
FBI Director Christopher Wray brought up what he called a “troubling” uptick in police killings when he testified to the House Judiciary Committee.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen a troubling uptake in violence against members of the law enforcement community,” Wray said.
The uptick in homicides of police officers should concern every American. We are seeing an increase in violent rhetoric towards the officers who swore to protect and serve their communities.
Government buildings and police precincts in multiple states have been surrounded and attacked by violent anti-police rioters. Hundreds of police officers have been injured responding to those protests.
It is hard to deny that this alarming increase is due to the violent rhetoric and behaviors surrounding these riots.
On top of it all, President Joe Biden remains largely silent on the trend. But hey, this is what America voted for, right?

This uptake in our Police deaths, violent deaths, all falls on the shoulders of the Radical Left’s Cancel Culture IDIOTS! When the Left’s Attack Dogs, BLM and Antifa, decided to attack and destroy our cities across the U.S. using Floyd’s death as an excuse and then the Dems decided to scream “DEFUND THE POLICE”, the drama was set and our culture raped! Our Police suffered because by defunding the police, the respect of our protecting officers was stomped on and destroyed. Now the “Criminal” element thinks they can harass and hurt, even kill, our noble Policemen!
With the Police Depts dwindling in numbers, there aren’t enough police to patrol at least in pairs, so they show up singularly and become victims themselves. This is the beginning of the downfall of our Culture — when those who protect us become victims themselves.

What happened with Floyd and other Black men should never of happened; however, those Blacks that died SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN IN THAT AREA IN THE MIDDLE OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES! Being in that area put them at risk and with tempers flaring from both sides, accidents happen. I’m not supporting the Police that caused the deaths of those Blacks, but I am saying that the Blacks were responsible too by being in that area of chaos and endangering themselves.

This is misleading. The actual 41% increase in the reported LOD LEO 2020/2021 is due to COVID deaths (while not on duty) not to mention their posthumous promotions all the sudden last year. Money… Do dead cops earn me more money? “Indeed, and why I know the truth in these numbers.” Like any good cop, I hate a lie and an exaggeration can cause a fight! I’m an engraver for a federal police memorial and have done so for the past 15 years. God bless them, don’t exaggerate, and they’d appreciate the honesty too! Our world/country is greatly exaggerated today. Look for the truth with open eyes. LEO today have better training and they do rely upon it and communication skills to balance from, the numbers are of course always on the rise but only exaggerated by the media!
The 41% increase is the homicide statistic. Deaths are up across the board and COVID-19 is a factor in that, but the 41% is specifically the homicide statistic.
