Chappelle Swung Back at Those that Celebrated His Contracting of COVID-19

Lexington, KY — In a video released by Netflix on Friday, Dave Chappelle swung back against those that celebrated his contracting of COVID-19.

After opening his segment with praise to God, Chappelle opened by stating that cowards celebrate when heroes stumble.

Faced with the criticism of “that will show him,” Chappelle doubled-down on his commitment to encouraging a sense of normalcy, a position he has held since he was originally told that he “wouldn’t be able to perform until 2022.”

“I’ve tried to find a way for it to work. You’ve seen what we’ve been doing. All of you that have had to endure these invasive tests, have to wear these masks, just so we can go out, hang out, and be together,” said Chappelle. “I tried.”

He continued, “and after all these months, my number was up… and then I had the ‘rona.”

From there, Chappelle thanked the overwhelming number of people who reached out to him to wish him the best but acknowledged that some – the cowards – used him as an excuse to lock themselves away.

To those people, Chappelle had few words, “well, enjoy yourselves (explicative) ‘cause I’m better now.”

The rest of the special was a discussion about the problems of the country, from Edward Snowden to racial issues and the storming of the Capitol, in which Chappelle points out that the system Edward Snowden complained about is being directed at white America.

Chappelle called for unity, claiming that the only thing that Americans can trust in, the only thing that gives them power, is each other. Celebrating his recent agreement with Comedy Central that resolved a nearly two-decade fight for the immensely popular Chappelle Show for which Chappelle asserts he was not paid after he quit the show to focus on his health.

The entire set, which is not family-friendly, has been released by Netflix on YouTube.
