Madison, WI — The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Governor Tony Evers’ (D-WI) mask mandate for violating state laws.
Evers issued the mask mandate for the first time back in the summer.
The 4-3 decision came down to a requirement that the legislature confirms any public health orders that are extended past 60 days. Evers did not follow the law in this instance. Instead, he issued extensions by executive order well past 60 days.
The court’s decision stated:
“Some may wish our analysis would focus on ensuring the Governor has sufficient power to fight COVID-19; others may be more concerned about expansive executive power. But outside of a constitutional violation, these policy concerns are not relevant to this court’s task in construing the statute. Whether the policy choices reflected in the law give the governor too much or too little authority to respond to the present health crisis does not guide our analysis. Our inquiry is simply whether the law gives the governor the authority to successively declare states of emergency in this circumstance.”
The fact that Democrat governors like Evers have single-handedly issued and extended executive orders with no oversight throughout the pandemic is a significant threat to liberty.
This is a major win over the tyranny of would-be dictators like Evers.

I moved from Wisconsin to Florida in 2016, thank God that I have a strong Republican Governor who knows his role in government and did the right thing by keeping Florida open and free for citizens to live their lives, pursue happiness and enjoy their liberties…..hmmm, where was it that I heard that those were my fundamental rights as a citizen in the USA??? 🇺🇸❤️👍
