Washington, D.C. – Yes, you probably heard that our President was acquitted of all impeachment charges. Was this surprising? No, it was clear that the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives “trumped-up” these charges for political Kabuki Theater.
The U.S. Senate was designed by our Founding Fathers to be the deliberative body. They did their job in acquitting the President, or at least a majority of them did.
One Senator that did raise eyebrows during the impeachment vote was Mitt Romney (“R”-Utah). Mitt, always wanting attention, came out in support of impeaching President Trump. He was the only “Republican” to do so.
If you know the history of Mitt Romney, aside from being a twice-failed Presidential candidate, he was Governor of Massachusetts. During his tenure as Governor, he created the model for Obamacare, supported gun control, was pro-LBGTQ, and just was the ultimate Democrat masquerading as a Republican.
“Mittens,” as he is non-affectionately called, subsequentially, was probably one of the worst Republican candidates for President. It was clear, he was jealous of then-nominee Donald Trump in 2016, and became one of the most vocal “Never Trumpers.”
Mittens hated not feeling special after he was widely ignored, after Trump’s election in 2016. So, Mittens decided to run for U.S. Senate in Utah in 2018. Backed by substantial financial interests, Mittens overwhelmed his Republican Primary opponent. Romney is a Mormon, and with Utah’s large Mormon population, Romney was elected to the U.S. Senate. Not to mention, Utah is reliably Republican…and Trump endorsed Romney for Senate.
If we look at the 2016 Presidental results in Utah, President Trump won by a yuge margin:
- Donald Trump 45.1%
- Hillary Clinton 27.2%
- Evan McMullin 21.3%
- Gary Johnson 3.5%
- Others 3.0%
Evan McMullin, another major “Never Trumper,” is also a Mormon who is from Utah. That’s why he had a strong showing in 2016. We can assume that half of the people who voted for McMullin were Republican voters. If you look at the polling, Trump has galvanized Republicans in support of his Presidency. Trump is very popular in Utah.
So why is butthurt Mitt Romeny in a Deadpool? Note: a Deadpool is a morbid betting contest on who is going to die or, in this case, eliminated. Mittens is in the Deadpool because he cast the lone Republican vote against the President, the very popular President. Republicans in his state aren’t going to be very happy.
One of two things is going to happen. First, there will be a recall of Mitt Romney. If that doesn’t happen, then in 2024, when Mittens is up for re-election, if he doesn’t run for President (again!), he will get beaten in a Republican Primary. We predicted it here, first!
