Firearm Manufacturer Tests Working AK-50 Prototype

Fayetteville, NC — A firearm manufacturer tested a working AK-50 prototype, and watching it fire eight consecutive rounds is pretty awesome.

Brandon Herrera, who owns The AK Guy Inc and operates a YouTube channel to document his business progress, made the project public in 2016. The AK-50 has made significant progress since 2016 when the prototype of the rifle contained no moving parts.

Though the project started “as a joke,” Herrera successfully fired the first round out of the prototype AK-50 in 2017.

Since then, “The AK Guy” has built a working prototype AK-50 that is nearly identical to a Kalashnikov rifle (AK). It utilizes the same gas-operated rotating bolt design as an AK and is compatible with a standard AK stock and pistol grip. It uses a Barrett M82 magazine to feed the 50 caliber rounds.

The video is pretty cool, and if you like guns, we encourage you to subscribe to “Brandon Herrera” on YouTube!
