Does American Airlines Hate Cops or Not?

American Airlines needs to start being more American…

Fort Worth, TX – Does American Airlines hate Cops or not? This is an important question we will try to answer. One thing is for sure, with American Airlines change in policy, they may want to drop the “American” in their name.

Before we tackle today’s article, we need to provide a little history. About a month ago, an article we were writing about American Airlines, Black Lives Matter, and the police got bumped for an article about Joe Biden. Our editor thought Joe Biden uttering a coherent sentence was more important and newsworthy. We think Biden said, “I went potty in my Depends” or something like that.

We were writing about a woman who got kicked off an American Airlines flight for wearing an “offensive” mask. The mask said, and we aren’t going to spell out the expletive here, “F#%& 12,” which is code for the say F-bomb the police. The woman was also wearing a Black Lives Matter T-shirt.

Here is the narrative from Fox News from last month:

A woman was reportedly kicked off an American Airlines flight last week because her mask was deemed “offensive” by a flight attendant…Arlinda Johns, from South Florida, was on her way to Illinois when she boarded a plane wearing a mask that said “F— 12” and a T-shirt that said “Black Lives Matter,” she told Florida’s Local 10 station…According to the station, “f— 12” is slang for “f— the police.”…A flight attendant reportedly asked Johns — an activist who believes in defunding and abolishing the police — to cover her mask. Johns did, saying in a Facebook Live video later: “Everything she asked me to do, I did.”…But soon after, the flight attendant reportedly returned to Johns’ seat…“She came back and stood over and said ‘I’d better not see that other mask,’ Johns told Local 10. “I said, ‘Leave me alone, lady.’ She stood there, she said, ‘Okay, I got you.’”…After the flight attendant went to the front of the plane, it returned to the gate and Johns was reportedly asked to deplane.

Now, we’re all for freedom of speech and all that here. But when it comes to using a private company’s services, they should have broad discretion on who they can serve. After 9-11, the airlines have wide latitude on who they will let fly and who they can kick off their planes. It happens a lot.

Our take from the Fox News narrative is when Johns said, “leave me alone, lady” to the flight attendant, that would be plenty of grounds based on an intent of non-compliance to get kicked off a flight. Even if Johns eventually complied. Hopefully, on her drive to Chicago, she had time to reflect.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A MONTH MAKES!

Now, American Airlines is completely changing course (pun intended). Caving in to the politically correct cancel culture, American Airlines is all about Black Lives Matter Now.

From Newsweek:

American Airlines is facing a backlash over allowing its workers to wear pins supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, with some opponents planning to boycott the airline…In a company-wide announcement on Sunday, American Airlines said: “Clearly we live in a time where it is so important to have a dialogue about this important issue of racism in our society and try to find common ground. American is truly committed to having an inclusive culture that is welcoming to all and a reflection of our country and world…”This is why American is so committed to creating a more tolerant and diverse team. Through our partnership with American’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, we are continuing to work through an overall plan for addressing these issues in our workplace.”…The airline said it would introduce a uniform pin designed by AA’s Black Professional Network as a symbol of support and until this pin is ready, the company will allow its workers to wear pins in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, “to recognize the significance of this moment in history.”

All of the buzzwords of the lefty PC Culture are included in the press release from “American” Airlines. Now they are going to PROMOTE the Black Lives Matter movement. So what is the backlash they are talking about? It’s from the employees:

But the decision has faced criticism from both American Airlines workers who are related to police officers, as well as customers who are against the Black Lives Matter movement, who view it as “anti-cop,” “racist” and “Marxist.”

Apparently, the employees get why this was a bad idea from American Airlines’ top brass. Flight Attendants seem to more easily identify “Marxist(s)” faster than other Americans. It probably doesn’t look good for American Airlines since they are based in Red State, Texas.

American Airlines is trying to play this off as NOT being political:

American Airlines said in the statement: “Fundamentally, we believe Black Lives Matter is an expression of equality, not a political statement. It doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter, rather that in our society Black lives should matter and be valued the same as others.

We don’t know whether we should laugh at the “spin” on this NOT being political, or just be insulted. This move by American Airlines is CLEARLY political.

The New York Post covered this story as well:

Top brass at the nation’s largest commercial jet carrier is facing turbulence from within after it announced that flight attendants are now allowed to wear Black Lives Matter pins on their uniforms while on duty…The move has irked some of American’s white New York staffers, including those who have spouses or relatives who are cops — because they consider the BLM movement divisive and anti-police, saying it promotes or condones violence.

These staffers are one-hundred percent correct. The Black Lives Matter movement is violent and divisive. One staffer added:

“I take offense to this,” one veteran flight attendant said in an email to airline management obtained by The Post. “Serious offense. My husband is a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer), as was my deceased father and as far as I’m concerned ALL LIVES MATTER.”…“I am completely disgusted at the fact that we can’t show support for our GOD, our COUNTRY, our LEOs but when it comes to BLM organization (which is controversial in itself), American Airlines says that’s obviously different,” she wrote. “And we can. How is that right? Well, I don’t feel included.”

We agree this was a stupid move by American Airlines. Considering airlines aren’t doing so well financially, maybe they should focus on their core competencies instead of politics. There is plenty of talk of a taxpayer bailout of the airlines. Yeah, no way we will be for that, not just because of the politics, but because it’s not the role of government.
