Washington, D.C. — Democrats introduced an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Monday for inciting an insurrection.
House GOP members rejected a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. If Pence does not cave to Democrats’ demands, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to hold a vote on the article of impeachment Wednesday.
The article of impeachment also contains language barring Trump from running again in 2024, something many Republicans and Trump voters still support.
However, politicians and social media giants are dead set on scrubbing Trump from American politics. Both Twitter and Facebook permanently suspended Trump’s campaign accounts. The media has already convicted Trump and written him off as guilty.
The goal is to convict Trump in the eyes of the public for the inexcusable actions of protesters. A far cry from their response to other violent and deadly riots across the country leading up to election day.
This strategy will only lead to more turmoil and division. Without any checks or balances on Democrats after Jan. 20, there is no stopping them.
