New York City, NY — The NYC Police Benevolent Association, a New York City police union, called a brutal mob attack on a lone individual “the reality of our streets.”
The security footage shared by the police union caught a gang of thugs beat a man, steal his cellphone, cut him, and strip him naked in the cold streets of Lower Manhattan. The man was reportedly returning on a bus from Atlanta.
The group fled in three vehicles after the man suffered seven slash wounds, mostly to his torso and head.
The attack happened around 11:30 am in broad daylight.
The NYC PBA tweeted, “This mob attack happened in Lower Manhattan on Friday. A 26 y/o was attacked by a gang of people, had his cellphone stolen and was then STRIPPED NAKED with nothing left on the street. This wasn’t a rare attack, this is the reality of our streets. If you have info come forward.”
The police union later tweeted some alarming statistics, referencing a shooting that also occurred in broad daylight.
Less than one month into 2021:
- 71 New Yorkers shot
- A 51% increase from 2020
- 21 New Yorkers murdered
- A 75% increase from 2020
The tweet ended with a clear statement: “We need to get tough on crime.”
