Texas State Senate Approved Constitutional Carry

Austin, TX The Texas State Senate approved “constitutional carry” legislation on a party-line vote Wednesday night.

The passage of H.B. 1927 marks a major achievement for gun rights activists who spent nearly a decade attempting to restore the constitutional right to Texas citizens.

Chris McNutt, the Executive Director of Texas Gun Rights (TXGR), who has been working on the issue for nearly a decade, is optimistic H.B. 1927 reaches the Governor’s desk but emphasized the fight is not over.

“In all my years working in Texas, we haven’t had a shot as good as this. We are close, but we can’t let our guard down. There is always an opportunity for weak Republicans to squish out and water down the bill or even kill it.”

H.B. 1927 now needs final approval from the House and a signature from Governor Greg Abbott to become law.

Abbott already confirmed his support for the legislation, all but ensuring Texas will become the 21st “constitutional carry” state.

The Louisiana State Senate also passed a version of “constitutional carry” last on Wednesday, though it faces a shakier path to become law.

  1. I’m fine with Constitutional carry, but the much more important legislation for Texas in the heartbeat bill. I pray that Texas will join the many moral states that prohibit abortion of babies after a heartbeat in detected. A heartbeat is clear evidence of a baby; a mere collection of developing cells doesn’t have a beating heart.
