Tancredo: Listen Up Class — The Department of Miseducation

By: Tom Tancredo

Listen up class! If you think you know the answer to a math question in this class, keep it to yourself, you little white supremacists!

Or, so says the State of Oregon Department of Miseducation. It went on to opine that teachers need to be retrained in “ethnomathematics” so as to be cognizant of the White supremacy oozing from those little brains as they “focus on getting the right answer” or being “required to show their work.”

You might ask how this could possibly be true. Well, as the Oregon Department of Miseducation explains, “upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuates objectivity (Oh God, not that!) as well as fear of open conflict.”

Uhhh… what?

The Department’s communications director defended the “Equitable Math” initiative by explaining it “helps educators learn key tools for engagement, develop strategies to improve equitable outcomes for Black, Latinx, and multilingual students, and join communities of practice.” In the workbook that is provided, teachers are told to “identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.”

Try to picture yourself sitting in an Oregon school board meeting, watching and listening to this inanity, and having to repeat to yourself: “This is real. I am not having a weird dream. I am awake, and these people at the front are actual school board members and not transients who wandered in from the streets while experiencing a particularly intense LSD trip.”

Of course, this is just the latest example of the things going on in government school classrooms across the country that elicit a “you have got to be joking” response from any sane person. I could fill up this column and 50 more like it with examples, and I would still hear from reader after reader – all starting their missives with “You think that’s insane? Let me tell you about…”

It’s too bad the general public did not figure out before the lockdown that this same super-toxic blend of Marxism, mediocrity, and mendaciousness was already well underway. Millions of parents now know a little more about the anti-American, anti-education curriculum their kids were subjected to because they overheard the teachers spouting this garbage every day in the online class sessions their kids attended.

I hope that millions more have finally come to grips with the fact that the National Education Association could literally be sued for falsely implying that education was their goal and that they actually cared about kids. Both claims are refuted every day as we watch the “teacher” unions refuse to let their members go back to work and yet demand to be paid. I’ll never forget the dumbstruck reaction in the congressional committee hearing on education when Al Shanker, then-president of the American Federation of Teachers, was brave and honest enough to be candid about his role as a union leader. When asked why the AFT wasn’t doing more to improve educational quality for the kids in their classrooms, he responded, “When kids start paying union dues, I’ll start representing the interests of kids.” I had a much higher respect for him from that time on. Honesty is so scarce a commodity in these settings that it can be earth-shaking when it sneaks in.

But this new knowledge about what has been happening to American schoolchildren comes at a terrible price. Teenage suicide rates are breaking records everywhere (up 35 percent in my state of Colorado). Incalculable psychological damage is being done because of the isolation brought on by science-denying lockdowns and the feelings of doom kids experience by listening to all the claptrap about the ecological Armageddon that will soon kill us all.

The good news is that, as schools creep toward reopening, they are finding that hundreds of thousands of parents have decided that homeschooling can be very rewarding for both parents and kids. Also, states where Republicans have legislative control or influence are expanding opportunities for private school choice and public charter schools. Breaking the government school monopoly may be in sight – but don’t think it will be easy: The fight for an educational renaissance will be long and hard because the teacher unions are powerful and fat with public tax dollar lifelines. They won’t let go of the money and the power to corrupt young minds without one heck of a fight. Which means it’s time to bring it on!

  1. Math is racist? What? Well, that’s the way leftists want the population, especially minorities, poor, stupid and unarmed!
Elections have consequences, so does not being able to count money. Sad.

  2. In 1955, a strange movement was begun by strangely guilt ridden extremely wealthy college students.Insteadof being proud of their rich successful parents, they resented them. These smal groups of spoiled confused people slowly banded together and grew slowly in numbers. They became “change agents” in the once wonderful public schools. Now they are firmly entrenched and powerful. The indoctrinated children of 1955 qre now professors, news broadcasters, writers, and movie stars, etc.Things look very black and hopeless. Most people born after 1960 have never ever read the U. S. constitution that all elementary students in 1954 and prior were required to study.May God have mercy! The movement of mothers out of their homes and into the workplace plus the increasing out of wedlock birth rates were further contributing factors. What an unholy mess satan has created1 1 Is ther any hope? ?

    1. You have drawn this picture very accurately! And it is sad. We have to keep hoping and praying that SOMEONE will be able to actually help us get things turned around, but it seems to have grown to brabdinacious proportions that are overwhelming. At best, true Conservatives who actually have clout will keep hammering away at educating the masses with REAL facts instead of the idiotic weirdness with which people are being inundated. At worst, God will be so outraged by it all that He’ll exercise one of the natural “Extinction Events” such as occurred in prehistoric geological events that resulted in destruction of as much as 75% of plant and animal life on earth. Pray, a whole lot!

    2. All that you stated is correct as the public schools are now indoctrination centers for the Marxist Left. Even prestigious, $50,000 a year tuition schools like Brearley in New York promote this anti-constitutional crap. Our Republic is crumbling to make a totalitarian utopia for the mega billionaire, New World Order controllers of their slave state. The control of the entire world is their dream.

  3. It’s more than official, Parents pull your children out of these schools and home school so they get truth. The public school system are nothing more than indoctrination facilties. Teach them that 2+2= actually does make four no matter who you are.

  4. Some years ago I owned my own truck and business hauling almost anything that had to be refrigerated. I had an occasion in CA to deliver a load to a store loading dock where their own truck drivers were on strike. One of those guys came to my truck and said I could not go in because they were on strike so my response was when the union started making my truck payments and home expenses I would honor their fight. I delivered my load. When the unions furnish the schools and pay the salary of those teaching perhaps I would listen to their BS. When they begin to make decisions about my children and what they should be taught they dam sure better talk to me first.

    1. Wonderful examples!! You don’t always get an opportunity to make such sense to morons following the mob.

  5. The only racism I see is the politicians who think they know what they are doing. Math has one answer to a problem and it does not see color or race. That is only perpetuated apparently by Oregon’s Education Director. If math had more than one answer we never would have made it to the moon. Kate Brown should get off her butt and insist on better math teachers and stop playing the race card.

  6. Its The Hegelian Dialect at work Facts vs. Feelings……no absolutes …Our ed system has been taken over by User-friendly albeit lethal Marxist ideas see Too High A Price For Harmony: a perspective on school shootings, Diane DeMiro or my blog returntoamericanprecepts.wordpress.com/?order=asc

  7. With every passing day, we go from Ludicrous to completely Asinine. This Idiotocracy started at the Universiyies and Colleges, and that’s where we need to stop it.

  8. Didn’t you know ? EVERYTHING is racist that does not fit their agenda. Anyone who dares disagree is an even worse racist ! Many Americans , especially politicians, now feel nothing is worse than being called a racist. Tom T warned of about this years ago, not enough people wanted to hear it.
People who elect corrupt politicians are not victims, they are ACCOMPLICES !

  9. So am I being racist if I give you the correct change when you make a purchase? Or perhaps when I purchase something from you and you tell me that each item costs $5 and I give you $7 you will accept this amount because math is relevant to what I believe it is and not what it really is, right?
Or maybe, just maybe, what they are really saying is that Blacks, Hispanics, and other Minorities are too stupid to be able to understand math and therefore should not be held to the same stands standards. After all, they already think that Minorities are being discriminated against because an ID is required to vote because it is obvious that they think Minorities are too stupid to get a Driver’s License or other State Issues ID card. So who is really the Racist Here?

  10. What a crazy idea and whose idea was that anyway ? Math is not an idea, it’s a science!! One either does or doesn’t understand it. There are white/Caucasian/ people who don’t do well in math but there are probably many blacks, Hispanics, & others who do very well.

  11. In Braveheart, the King said to his son, ” When you are king, you have to find the good in every situation.” Example: King Arthur, when asked what is the ground speed of a swallow, responded which one, African or European? ” Monty Python fans know the good that came from that.

In the same vein, we must be kings and find the good in every situation, COVID or not. As an avid golfer, COVID afforded people to play the perfect COVID game, sunshine, updrafts and social distancing. At my course, hundreds of new golfers came out to learn the game. If but one in five get hooked on the game, its future is assured.

In the same vein, parents got the COVID opportunity to see what tripe they are teaching in schools. If but one in five are outraged enough, the poison will evaporate. The good in every situation.

  12. Common core math was pushed into classrooms in order to dumb-down-
American kids. The liberal teachers tell the class as long as they show
their work on paper, whatever answer they get is correct. Tell me, what
future buildings are going to look like when construction companies hire
these IDIOTS and send them out to build a home. Without proper teaching in classrooms, nothing is going to work out. Homes will look like “the house that Jack built”, home made cakes will fall flat, clothing will not hang properly, absolutely nothing will be constructed correctly. China will move in with “brilliant mathematicians”, leaving Americans in the dust.” Someone needs to stand up and fight for the future of kids
in America or they will have no future.

  13. You need to understand, Oregon’s governor is Jane Brown, the sister of Jerry Brown himself. She is so far left her left arm circles the earth 100 billion times. She is so gung ho communist she makes Stalin look like a conservative. I left Oregon year ago when the started all this libtard horse shit and now it’s 10,000 times worse.
