Los Angeles, CA – LeBron James took to Twitter Monday to defend controversial comments he made in an interview after returning from China.

It (Daryl Morey’s tweet in support of Hong Kong pro-freedom protestors) could have waited a week? More accurately, James seems to believe the tweet could have waited until after his trip to China with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Read James’ original comments made in Los Angeles after the team returned from China.

“I’m not here to judge how the league handled the situation,” the perennial All-Star told reporters in Los Angeles on Monday night. “I just think that, when you’re misinformed or you’re not educated about something – and I’m just talking about the tweet itself – you never know the ramifications that can happen. We all see what that did, not only did for our league but for all of us in America, for people in China as well. Sometimes you have to think through the things that you say that may cause harm not only for yourself but for the majority of people. I think that’s just a prime example of that.”

We think the only misinformed party in this situation is LeBron James.

The comments from the NBA star are a stark contrast to his defense of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick‘s social justice campaign. There is also something to be said about the anti-American sentiment inherent in both instances.

Where’s the Money?

So why is James effectively defending a country with an extensive history of human rights violations and suppression of freedoms? He supports Kaepernick’s fight for social justice reform but seems content to let China subjugate its citizens.

If James really supports social justice reform and freedom, he would not defend Communist China. Perhaps, what James is really defending is his bottom line.

China is a huge market, and they love basketball. How much does James stand to make from sales of his shoes? How much will he make off marketing deals, camps, and future games in China? Would China ban Space Jam 2 if James took a stance against China’s government?

We will let our readers, and the rest of America decide.

  1. He should remain in China. Let him learn first hand what it’s like to actually live under a communist dictatorship. But by no means allow him to return to the U.S. IMO, he has made his bed, let him sleep in it. He’s no contribution to the U.S. and his lack of respect let’s us know how he feels about all those that have died for this country and the families that have lost these loved ones.

    1. Don’t we just wish he would stay in Commie China and leave the American People alone. Oh, and tell him to invite his compatriots like Biden and Kamala to join him and stop B.S.ing the people of America.
