India’s Newest Billionaire Crowned, US Millennials on Notice

India has another new billionaire, and he’s a Millennial…
Officer Ella French was fatally shot in the line of duty on Saturday (Chicago Police Department).

India has its newest billionaire, a former school teacher from a small, poor region. He created learning software for kids aged 5-16, that uses interactive techniques to help them learn. We’ll get to why US millennials should be on notice in a sec…

Specifically, this entrepreneur created software that is “built around interactive videos, games, and quizzes. The platform helps students with everyday classes, as well as exam preparation.” Sounds pretty cool and useful.

His story is pretty compelling, as well. He started from “humble” beginnings growing up in South India, went to college, became an engineer, and started coaching and teaching kids how to do well on entrance exams. This evolved into this multi-billion dollar software company.

Being capitalists (not crony corporatists), we celebrate success, including financial success. We especially like this because his business model helps kids get ahead academically, giving them the opportunity (not guarantee) of success.

Now, let’s talk about why millennials in the United States should be put on notice. As we opined in another article, kids in the US would rather be YouTube stars than go into something more productive, while Chinese students want to be engineers. We also cited an article that 1 in 4 Millenials would quit their jobs to be famous.

Well, millennials if you want to get out of your parent’s basement, and take on (worthwhile) student loan debt that you can pay off, maybe you should go into engineering or the sciences. Then you can make some money, and maybe…maybe…if you’re lucky will become a YouTube star, while you play video games in your OWN basement as a homeowner.

Ok, we’re stepping off our soapbox now. Full disclosure, we have as many as two millennials on staff. They’re conservative, and they definitely don’t live in their parent’s basement.

We love to hear stories of success, please submit stories through our Tip Line here (we may publish your story!) or write about it in the comments.

As always, please share!
