Executive Actions by Biden Weaken National Security & U.S. Energy Independence

Washington, D.C. — Numerous executive actions by President Joe Biden weaken national security and U.S. independence and give leverage to enemies of the country.

On the first day of his presidency, Biden ended the Presidential Permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline. The move eliminates thousands of jobs in the U.S. and Canada.

Ending the Keystone XL Pipeline contract also threatens U.S. and Canadian energy independence. Without the pipeline, the U.S. will continue to be dependent on oil imports from the middle east.

Moratorium Further Threatens Energy Independence

Biden promised to ban new oil and gas drilling during his campaign. He took a giant leap towards that end by putting a moratorium on all new oil and gas drilling on public lands.

A similar moratorium in Colorado deeply damaged the state’s oil and gas industry.

Biden’s moratorium threatens to eliminate significant tax revenue while those in power plan to spend with abandon. The negative economic impacts are glaring considering, once again, it will eliminate high-paying jobs that are not easily replaced.

Biden’s oil and gas policies will lead to more imported oil from countries with less strict policies on reducing carbon emissions while eliminating American jobs. This is something climate activists should be furious about, yet they are rejoicing in the economic destruction of Biden’s new and improved “Green New Deal.”

The troubles do not end there.

A National Security Threat

Another one of Biden’s actions is receiving very little attention, despite the threat to national security.

Included in the “Executive Order on Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis,” Biden rescinded an important rule put in place by the Trump administration.

The executive order by former President Donald Trump was intended to keep foreign enemies from meddling in the U.S. power grid.

According to Disrn:

Trump’s order specifically prohibited “any acquisition, importation, transfer, or installation” of bulk-power system (BPS) electrical equipment by “foreign adversaries.”

This is important. Given access to the BPS, foreign governments such as the Chinese Communist Party can implement systems to disrupt the BPS. Trump’s order outlined the importance of the BPS for national defense and emergency response networks.

The Paris Climate Accord

Circling back to day one of the Biden administration, Biden signed back onto the Paris Climate Accord. The deal placed an undue burden on the U.S. economy while failing to address climate change sensibly.

The deal not only hurt the U.S. but other developed and developing countries as well. Requirements for developing countries to move away from cheap energy production threatens to hamper their development.

Many growing countries, especially in Asia, are forced to build new coal-powered plants to meet their increasing energy needs. These countries cannot meet their emissions goals set by the Paris Climate Accord while they grow.

The lack of enforcement in the accord makes the agreement nothing more than an expensive and economically destructive wish list.

Unchecked, Biden’s climate policies threaten to weaken national security and U.S. energy independence for many years.
