Conservative Talk Radio Hero Rush Limbaugh Passes Away at 70

St. Louis, MO — Conservative talk radio hero Rush Limbaugh passed away today at the age of 70 after battling stage IV lung cancer, but his legacy will live on forever.

Limbaugh was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he dreamed of working in the radio business. His radio career began right there on KGMO/Cape Girardeau, and oh boy, did it take off!

Limbaugh later spent time at KFBK/Sacramento and WABC/New York. In 1988, with the help of Edward F. McLaughlin, The Rush Limbaugh Show went national, airing on over 200 radio stations nationwide by 1990. This astounding contribution to AM talk radio revived the dying industry and helped propel him to the Radio Hall of Fame in 1993. Eventually, some 27 million people tuned in to his show on over 600 radio stations every week.

Growing up in Missouri, I listened to Rush talk passionately about politics as I rode in my father’s 99′ Dodge on the way to baseball and basketball practice. If I did not understand something, my father would help explain what Rush and his faithful listeners were talking about that day.

In 2009 (before I ever attended high school) Limbaugh delivered one of his most famous speeches at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). He underscored the core beliefs that we hold as conservatives, and the crowd erupted with cheers of “USA! USA!” in response.

“We love people. When we look out over the United States of America, when we are anywhere, when we see a group of people, such as this or anywhere, we see Americans. We see human beings. We don’t see groups. We don’t see victims. We don’t see people we want to exploit. What we see — what we see is potential. We do not look out across the country and see the average American, the person that makes this country work. We do not see that person with contempt. We don’t think that person doesn’t have what it takes. We believe that person can be the best he or she wants to be if certain things are just removed from their path like onerous taxes, regulations and too much government.”

“We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be. We recognize that we are all individuals. We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.”

“We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, Freedom and the pursuit of happiness.”

It is these core principles that drive me to work in conservative politics, and I am proud to say it is Rush, my father, and my family that helped instill these principles.

Among the many honors of his career, Limbaugh was awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor, the highest civilian award in the United States, by President Donald Trump.

Like President Ronald Reagan, liberals called Limbaugh “the most dangerous man in America” — a title that stands in recognition of both men’s patriotism and dedication to our founding values.

Limbaugh will forever hold an important place in the hearts of millions of conservatives in America.

May he return his “talent on loan” to God and rest in peace.

  1. May he Rest In Peace and May God bring comfort to his family in this time of grief and sorrow.
He loved this country and saw the good in her. He also saw her flaws and helped people to see the problems so that the problems could be addressed. I admire his courage and integrity. 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
