Grand Lake, CO — A murder-suicide was included in Colorado COVID deaths because of a positive test within 30 days, according to the Grand County coroner.
Grand County Coroner Brenda Bock says the two unfortunate deaths should not count towards the state death total.
Colorado keeps two different statistics on coronavirus deaths. One is “deaths due to COVID-19” and the other is “deaths among cases” [of COVID-19]. These numbers sit at 3,230 and 4,156 respectively.
The two deaths in question were counted under “deaths among cases.” However, the state counts “deaths among cases” who dies within 30 days of a positive COVID-19 test.
Obviously, the cases Bock is disputing had nothing to do with the Wuhan coronavirus.
This is what Bock had to say.
“The two cases were autopsied, and the cause of death was listed as ‘blunt force injuries due to a gunshot wound,’” Bock said of what police determined to be a murder-suicide. “Nowhere did the pathologist say COVID was the cause of death.”

The state refuses to correct the statistic
It claims these extra deaths balance out because some deaths due to the coronavirus are not counted. Without extensive research in post-covid in the years to come, it is hard to say that is a proven fact.
If these two deaths are misidentified due to a whopping 30-day data window, how can the general public be sure other deaths are not misclassified?
It is possible asymptomatic people test positive for COVID-19 and then pass away due to other causes. Others might fully recover from the virus and pass away due to other reasons.
The miscounted deaths may not make much of a difference in the overall number of COVID-related deaths. Though, that is no excuse for Colorado’s dishonest reporting.
It is not the first time Colorado has been in hot water for misreporting COVID-19 death statistics either. Back in April, the state was forced to remove 29 duplicate deaths from its coronavirus death statistics.
