Denver Mayor Michael Hancock Defies Own Advice Not to Travel for Thanksgiving

Denver, CO — Denver Mayor Michael Hancock defied his own advice not to travel for Thanksgiving and urged people to only gather with those in their household.

Instead of following that advice, Hancock took a flight on Wednesday.

After backlash online and from the media, Hancock issued an apology for his double standard.

“I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel. I made my decision as a husband and father, and for those who are angry and disappointed, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions that are borne of my heart and not my head,” the mayor said.

Hancock reportedly traveled to spend Thanksgiving with his wife and daughter.

Regardless of his reasons, Hancock defied his guidance to the city he leads. Apologizing does not cut it.

Nobody cares (or should) that Hancock traveled to Mississippi to spend Thanksgiving with his family. They are outraged that Hancock is eliminating their freedoms and advising them to do one thing while he does the other.

This is not the first time Hancock was caught in a double standard stunt. In June, Hancock flouted his own orders to wear a mask and social distance to march with protesters.

People want their freedom back.

Hancock needs to apologize for the jobs lost due to his actions on COVID-19. He needs to lift all oppressive, unequal, and economically destructive mandates on the citizens and businesses of Denver.

  1. Do as I say, not as I do. Welcome to the Socialist state of Colorado. As one of the few natives I know left here, I’m embarrassed and ashamed to admit it.

  2. Double standards. One for the politicians and one for the people. When will we wake up and no longer accept the lies.

  3. Clearly Mr. Hancock doesn’t believe in the basis for his no-travel advice. If he did, he would have shown his sincere concern for his wife and daughter, as well as for those Denverites he has daily contact with, as well as for everyone encountered on his journey, by not making that trip. Ergo, his advice is either mere political posturing or his inner elitist rearing its ugly and anti-American head.

    1. So his family lives out of state. Did he vote in Colorado and Mississippi? He is a demoncrap and can do as he wishes, so why not?

  4. The reason why Democrat governors ,mayors , do what they want is because they’re all in cahoots together to put people in bondage and to make sure they get that vaccine out because they’re getting paid behind the scenes to make it look like this covid 19 is so bad. Lying about the test results saying that they’re all positive when the guy who made the test said that it doesn’t work in that way.To me it proves that they are all involved together for one to make up covid 19 to be deadly for two to get president Trump out of office for three to get their kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies for controlling and fear-mongering people.

  5. And this is my question to all Coloradan’s that vote this people into office……why?? Are you that brainwashed that Democrats will make everything better?? Wake up folks! You whine about being shut down and locked out but yet you continue (especially you folks in Boulder, Denver and Ft Collins) to vote these Democrats back into office election after election. Colorado has pretty much turned into a Liberal extension of California! Now you (we) have to live with the hypocrisy and restrictions……….
