Los Angeles, CA – Standing up for the National Anthem. Considering the current political climate (according to the lamestream media), this would be some act of treason. However, we think this Major League Baseball player is a hero. If baseball is American’s National Pastime, then out of all sports, players SHOULD stand for the National Anthem.
San Francisco Giants pitcher Sam Conrood was the only player, or manager on the field to stand for the National Anthem for the Giants season opener on Friday. San Francisco is one of the most liberal cities in the nation. So we think Coonrod knew he was taking a significant risk because of the potential liberal Cancel Culture backlash.
But this really didn’t matter to Coonrod, and he again should be applauded for standing up for something even more important – his faith. From Fox News:
San Francisco Giants pitcher Sam Coonrod was the only player to stand during a moment honoring the Black Lives Matter movement ahead of the season opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers, telling reporters after the game that as a Christian he “can’t kneel before anything besides God.”

Standing up for the National Anthem.
Amen, brother! Many people need reminders on what matters in this world and the next. Standing up for one’s faith should be paramount, and that’s why it’s protected in the 1st Amendment.
The Coonrod violated another taboo, he criticized Marxism and defended the Nuclear Family:
“I just can’t get on board with a couple things I’ve read about Black Lives Matter, how they lean towards Marxism,” he continued. “And … they said some negative things about the nuclear family. I just can’t get on board with that.”

Coonrod has decent stats, but he is in no way indisposable by the Giants, he earns a little over $500,000 and is one of the lowest-paid players on the team. However, he stands up for what he believes in, and we appreciate that.
Of course, NBC and Sports Illustrated missed the point of Coonrod’s act, saying he “doesn’t get it”. The Irony here is that they don’t get it. Coonrod doesn’t kneel before anyone but God. Just because everyone has jumped on board the BLM Bandwagon doesn’t change thousands of years of established faith.
Standing up for the National Anthem.
No one here on staff at the Citizen’s Press is a fan of the San Francisco Giants, but Sam Coonrod is definitely on our radar. We need more sports figures leading by example…from a Christian and common-sense perspective.
What do you think about all of these over-paid primadonnas kneeling for the National anthem across all sports? Should Coonrod have been treated more fairly by the press? Is Coonrod a hero? Please write your opinions below or on social media.
