Will Trump Appoint Another Supreme Court Justice? Here is our vote count…

Is Trump’s new nominee a lock?

Washington, DC – Will Trump appoint another Supreme Court Justice? Here is our vote count…There is a clear path for the fifty plus one votes required to confirm a new Justice. However, the usual suspects in the “media” are spinning it quite differently.

First, a quick civics lesson (we just lost our fifty socialist readers) on the Supreme Court Appointment Process. The President nominates his pick, who must be confirmed by the U.S Senate. There are 100 Senators, and you need a simple majority. If all 100 Senators are present, then you need fifty plus one votes. If not all Senators are present, you need a vote of fifty percent of the Senators in attendance plus one (Example: 96 Senators are present for voting, you need 48 votes plus one).

Let’s kick it up a notch! The Vice President of the United States (Mike Pence, if you’re keeping count) can be a tie-breaking vote. How does this work? All 100 Senators are Present. Fifty votes to confirm the nominee, fifty votes not to confirm. Pence would vote for the tiebreaker. Therefore, Republicans need only fifty votes to confirm. Currently, Republicans hold 53 votes in the Senate. So, with Mike Pence, 3 Republicans could vote not to confirm, and Trump’s nominee STILL gets confirmed.

The liberal media is claiming that five Senators may not vote to confirm. Part of their claims are false, mainly because of perceived hypocrisy over no vote Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland in 2016, the year Obama was term-limited. That’s the rub; the media fails to explain. Obama COULD NOT be President after the 2016 Election; Trump CAN WILL be re-elected. It’s really a terrible comparison, and there is zero hypocrisy here.

So, here is The Washington Post’s analysis of the Republican Senators in play. They claim that there are two hard votes against confirming, and three in play. The hard Nos are allegedly Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Collins is not a reliable Republican vote, so no surprise there.

Murkowski is a different situation. Murkowski (Her dad served in the U.S. Senate, Alaska’s version of the Kennedys) lost her Republican Primary in 2010. She won the seat as a Write-in candidate, with a wristband campaign. She is probably one significant vote from having zero chance of re-election. So it’s not surprising that Murkowski is changing her tune on the confirmation. She may vote to confirm now.

Mittens Romney surprised everyone by saying he “favored” a vote. With Mittens, you never know – he may vote against, but the Washington Post put him in the YES column on the confirmation.

Here’s where the liberal media really tries to stretch the lack of support to confirm a new Justice. The media claims that Tim Scott (South Carolina) and the two Louisiana Senators are in play. Simply put, the liberal media is dead wrong. Trump won both Louisiana and South Carolina by large margins. Louisana Senator Bill Cassidy is up for re-election this year, and according to the Cook Report, this is a SAFE REPUBLICAN seat.

The U.S Senate has excluded the use of the Fillibuster for Supreme Court confirmations. So the Democrats have no way to stop it. Trump will go down in history as having one of the most significant influences on the Supreme Court. Liberals are lamenting a “conservative” majority of 6-3 on the Supreme Court. The unfortunate consolation for the left is a 5-4 Conservative Majority because Chief Justice John Roberts is an Obamacare supporting liberal.

The Supreme Court is why a lot of wayward conservatives voted for Trump in 2016. They made the right choice, and this shows how important this election is.

  1. I think they can, it would set off an other act of Kabuki theater, which the liberal/socialist will do as they are hell bent on obscuring any common sense approach to this process. For the liberal/socialist there will no decorum they have shown what they are in the past and will continue to do so in the future, they have no rules, no moral center, their hearts are very dark, no sunshine will ever penetrate those depths. The discussing part is all of the lies they put out their, never any truth, and the media will support, pontificate on those lies none stop, it is more discussing when some mentally deficient aberration swears that the lies are the truth, over and over, even under oath, it is confusing why perjury charges are not brought against these, I an not sure what to call people like that, I guess disciples of the devil might be the best word. As far as I know there are 3 candidates, 2 are being talked about, 1 in the wings. I hope they are prepared for what they will be subject to, 1 or may be all will demure before the circus acts start. The time for each person to talk should be limited to 15 min. after that it is just pontification, and nonsense dribbling out. The whole circus should not exceed 5 days, then vote.

  2. Trump WILL appoint a nominee to the Supreme Court, it is his Constitutional Duty. The Senate will confirm his nominee, and she will be Sworn in.
