Watch: Police Body Cam Footage Shows Officer-involved Shooting in Minnesota

Brooklyn Center, MN — Police body cam footage released on Monday shows the officer-involved shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright over the weekend.

Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon released the footage earlier than usual in an effort to provide increased transparency to the community.

The officers reportedly attempted to make an arrest when they found an outstanding warrant for Wright during a traffic stop. The video appears to show Wright pull away from the officers and jump back into the driver’s seat.

A yet unidentified female officer then appears to shout “taser” multiple times before firing her sidearm once and dropping it. The footage seems to show the female officer say “Shit!” in shock as she drops her gun.

She then says, “I just shot him,” as the car speeds away down the street.

After the video was shown, Gannon told the press that the footage appears to show that the officer mistakenly drew her sidearm instead of her taser.

The officer is on administrative leave, and an independent investigation of the shooting has been ordered.

  1. Accidents happen.

Anyways, if the fool would not jumped back in his car and tried to escape, he never would have been shot in the first place (even though it was an accidental shooting by the officer). I blame the idiot crook more than the officer.

  2. Almost every LEO I have seen carries their taser on the opposite side of their waist from their firearm. Did this female cop really make a mistake ? Evidently she need w
much more intensive training about where all her equipment is located. It did not appear to be such an intense situation that she was confused and panicked,

  3. Tragic mistake. However once the suspect began resisting, the suspect is responsible for the outcome. PERIOD! Without the illegal actions, resisting arrest, the accident would not have happened. The officer, if proven to have mistakenly drawn the wrong weapon then maybe an investigation to see if equipment on their belt should be rearranged or the grip be colored red, but this is not an intentional shooting. I am sure the officer is having difficulty with this.

  4. Again subject did not act like a civilized human and committed several felonies. If he had not resisted arrest and had not been a career criminal he would be alive and in jail where he belonged. Like g. floyd, mike brown, and 95% of the others who force police to take an action they did not want to take they would still be alive today. All police officer should quit TODAY and see what action the cities take once their lives are in danger. Advice from a 30 year retired officer if you are a cop today you better wise up and quit before the sicko liberals come for you and destroy your life. Get out now while you have time.
