Facebook and Twitter Called Out for Censorship

Washington, D.C. – Facebook and Twitter were called out for censorship by Senate Republicans in a hearing with their respective CEOs, Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey.

Senator Ted Cruz pointed out that Twitter suppressed the discussion on voter fraud. Specifically, the Texas Republican claimed Twitter acted as a publisher by “taking a disputed policy position” on voter fraud.

Cruz went on to blast Dorsey for claiming special benefits under Section 230 by acting as a publisher.

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act provides protections for services like Twitter. It says, “No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.”

Cruz was not the only Senator to go after the CEOs.

Senator Mike Lee (R-AZ) grilled Facebook for its errors in censoring pro-life ads. The ads focused on Joe Biden’s and Kamala Harris’ records on abortion.

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) went so far as to call the actions of Twitter and Facebook election interference.

Blackburn blasted the inconsistent censorship of the two companies when it comes to politics.

“The last time we had Jack Dorsey in front of us, he had censored [President] Donald Trump — at that point — 65 times, right?” recalled Blackburn. “He had never censored [former Vice President] Joe Biden or the Ayatollah or [Russian President Vladimir] Putin or [Chinese President] Xi Jinping, because he thinks world’s leaders need to have access to his platform. Are you kidding me?”

Quote from Breitbart

She went on to discuss her legislation aimed at limiting big tech’s ability to censor political speech and information.

Facebook and Twitter are being called out for censorship, and the fight getting hotter.

  1. to be out raged at all of the chicanery committed by the social media platforms, as well as all of the other media outlets have done to Republicans, especially if you are a conservative is disturbing. What has occurred goes against our values, as Americans, in particular our Bill of Rights. The fact of the matter is they are private outlet, platforms, and can make their own rules as they please, say what ever they want, do what ever they want. The one thing to remember there is not much that can be done, except do not use the platforms, do not listen to the media, find other reliable resources. The sad part there are very few, if any platform, media outlets for an honest, fact based information. So essentially they have quashed any descending, honest, fact base opinions, assessment for 50% of the population to communicate with each other. Now here is the parallel to other times in history when this happen, especially in the 1930 germany, italy, spain, russia, china, korea. I know fb will call this not to community standards, and delete this

  2. The absolute worst thing that Twitter and especially Facebook does is when we get banned, we don’t know why we got banned (for the most part) and they never tell you. They don’t allow us to ask why. They don’t answer back to our request for why we got banned. One time, a man called me a bitch, I replied back “You too, bitch” and Facebook banned me for a week and not him. Instead of giving us a warning about something we said, they just ban us. I would love to ban them from life because they are acting as domestic terrorists. They exude pure hate and teach us how to hate. They hurt us and turn around and say we hurt others. I bet nothing will be done to Twitter and Facebook for their anti American treasonous crimes and they again will get away with it. I am soon leaving Facebook and left Twitter around a year ago. They are not worth my time. I know I am better than them!
