St. Louis, MO — Bye, bye, racist apple pie! Author Raj Patel penned an article for the Guardian claiming apple pie is racist by linking it to the “ongoing genocide of Indigenous people.”
No, this is not satire or a parody of cancel culture.
Patel is a research professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, and I can only assume he is a Marxist who hates everything America stands for after reading this rag and browsing his Twitter.
“The apple pie is as American as stolen land, wealth and labor. We live its consequences today,” comrade Patel wrote.
The article painstakingly lays out how, while not “uniquely American,” the apples, sugar, recipe, and even gingham fabric used in apple pie have racist roots.
Patel even takes aim at Johnny Appleseed. He argues that apple trees were used as “markers of civilization” by colonists. “John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, took these markers of colonized property to the frontiers of US expansion where his trees stood as symbols that Indigenous communities had been extirpated,” he wrote.
We are all supposed to feel very ashamed of our racist, capitalist history, according to comrade Patel. This is not a new concept in cancel culture, but attacking apple pie in this way is laughable.
As ridiculous as Patel’s article is, it makes it clear that cancel culture is a festering disease with no end in sight.

At 78 years of age, I just don’t know what to say about Mr. Raj Patel. I assume he is of Indian descent. I have many Indian friends who would never think the way he does. Perhaps Patel is unable to assimilate to the U.S. Oh, that’s it…Mr. Patel is a lib, who only knows the term racist. Libs can only say racist, racist, racist.
