NYC Sheriff Cracking Down on Holiday Travel With Checkpoints – Threatens $1,000 Fines

New York City, NY – New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito is cracking down on holiday travel with checkpoints — threatened $1,000 fines for violations.

The crackdown is based on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s latest travel edicts. His orders apply to anyone who spends more than 24 hours in a non-neighboring state.

The travel “guidelines” encourage New York Residents to contact a snitch line for anyone in violation of the following requirements.

  • People must get tested for COVID-19 within three days before traveling to New York
  • Quarantine for three days in New York
  • Acquire another COVID-19 test on day four of quarantine

Fucito joined New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to share the authoritarian message.

“There will be vehicle checkpoints at key bridges and crossings throughout New York City. Sheriff will also be conducting checkpoints at curbside drop off bus stops – so, out-of-state buses coming into New York City, when they drop off at the curb, they will be met by sheriff teams,” Fucito said.

He went on to threaten consequences for anyone who violates the edicts of Cuomo, de Blasio, and unelected bureaucrats in the health department.

“If you violate the travel quarantine, there will be consequences.

Fucito went on to say, “If you violate the travel quarantine, there will be consequences. Violation of a self-quarantine travel regulation may result in deputy sheriffs serving you a mandatory quarantine order issued by the Health Commissioner. In cases of violation, Deputies could serve you with a civil summons that carries a $1,000 fine.”

Fucito and de Blasio intend to put American citizens at further risk by stopping them from peacefully traveling over Thanksgiving.

Stopping people, requesting identification, and forcing them to attend COVID-19 testing locations only increases their risk of contracting the virus.

This sounds much more like tyranny than protection.
