Liberal Attorney Generals Are Trying To Dissolve The N.R.A.

From cold & dead hands, to cold and dead organization?

New York, NY – Liberal Attorney Generals are trying to dissolve the N.R.A. If you didn’t think the political hard-left in this country were trying to flex their muscle, think again. The Attorney Generals in both New York and Washington, DC (yes, this not-state has an Attorney General) have filed suit to dissolve the N.R.A.

Yes, this is not a joke. However, as we shed more light on this, you may think it is a joke. New York’s Attorney General had expressed her dislike for the N.R.A. (National Rifle Association) on the campaign trail in 2018 when she called the N.R.A. a “terrorist organization”.

Now she is trying to sue them out of business. You are probably thinking, “why does she have jurisdiction?”. This is an excellent question, and the answer is the N.R.A. is organized and domiciled as a nonprofit in New York State. The N.R.A. is an old organization, but you would think after decades of anti-Gun legislation in New York, they should have moved by now.

Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of the lawsuit. We are going to quote the New York Times because they had the most in-depth coverage of this – because it’s pro-liberal and anti-gun. We no that none of our self-respecting readers have a subscription to the New York Times, neither do we, but we’ll use some quotes here.

From the New York Times:

The suit accuses the N.R.A. and the executives of “violating numerous state and federal laws” by enriching themselves, as well as their friends, families and allies, and taking improper actions that cost the organization $64 million over three years. The attorney general has regulatory authority over the N.R.A. because it is chartered as a nonprofit in New York. She is also seeking to oust Mr. LaPierre and Mr. Frazer, and to bar all four men from ever serving on nonprofit boards in New York again.

Sure, we want all of the money going towards fending off anti-2nd Amendment legislation and help to elect pro-gun candidates, so the N.R.A.’s mismanagement is a concern. But this goes a little far. Especially the punitive portion of not allowing board members to ever serve on nonprofit boards. New York’s Attorney General is clearly doing this as a political stunt.

Here is where it gets fun. This is a civil lawsuit, not a criminal one. So technically there wasn’t any wrongdoing, this is more of a subjective judgment call on fiduciary duty.

More from the New York Times:

The lawsuit, which was filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, is a civil action, and outlined a number of alleged tax violations. Ms. James said during a news conference that she was referring the matter to the Internal Revenue Service in addition to taking her own action, and did not rule out making a future criminal referral…”It’s an ongoing investigation,” she said Thursday. “If we uncover any criminal activity, we will refer it to the Manhattan district attorney. At this point in time we’re moving forward, again, with civil enforcement.”

This lawsuit is more of a fishing expedition. Through discovery, it appears the New York Attorney General hopes to uncover some wrongdoing to make a criminal case. In addition, by referring this to the Internal Revenue Service, she is making a political play.

What political play, you might ask? Clearly, if the N.R.A. is spending a boatload of their funds defending lawsuits, these are funds that won’t help President Trump or other candidates. This is about flexing liberal muscle to destroy the opposition – plain and simple.

Liberal Attorney Generals are trying to dissolve the N.R.A. This lawsuit will probably not be successful legally, but politically maybe. Stay tuned.

What do you think? Is this a political stunt? Has the N.R.A. handicapped itself this election cycle? Please write your comments below or on social media!

  1. Hi just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same results.

    1. Thank you for your insight. Can you tell us which images? Usually we only add 1 image per article. For example, in this article the only image is that of Charleton Heston. Is that loading?
