Arkansas Legislature Overrides Gov’s Veto of Bill Banning Genital Mutilation and Hormone Drugs for Children

Little Rock, AR — The Arkansas State Legislature voted to override Governor Asa Hutchinson’s (R-AR) veto of House Bill 1570 that banned genital mutilation and hormone drugs for children.

The “Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act” protects vulnerable children from irreversible gender transitions.

That’s right. Arkansas’s Republican governor refused to sign a bill to protect the physical, mental, and emotional health of the state’s children.

Thankfully, the Republican majorities in the House and Senate corrected Hutchinson’s failure.

The House voted 71-24, and the Senate voted 25-8 to overturn the veto.

Hutchinson claimed the child-protection laws were an overreach of government power. However, we are not sure how ensuring irreversible damage is not done to children is an overreach of government power.

Our laws do not allow children to smoke, chew tobacco, drink, or do drugs, but Hutchison decided it was alright to allow children to go through irreversible gender transitions — including surgeries.

What’s more, studies do not support transgender activists’ claims that gender transitions help children suffering from gender dysphoria.

Family Research Council President, Tony Perkins, said:

The harmful gender ideology sweeping across our nation creates a growing and urgent need for legislative protections for children vulnerable to life-altering procedures such as puberty-blocking drugs, cross-sex hormones, and irreversible surgeries. Research has not shown that these procedures are effective in improving patient’s mental health. They have serious negative side effects, up to and including permanent sterilization–thus violating the most fundamental principle of medical ethics, “First, do no harm.”

From Breitbart

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson may have failed to protect vulnerable and emotionally struggling children, but the Arkansas State Legislature did not.

  1. Maybe cut hutchinsons privates off and see how he lives with it these kids don’t even know what they want from one minute to the next especially something they are not physically or mentally ready for you bunch of perverted old goats!

  2. You say it’s already posted but it wasn’t your to scared to post it🐔

  3. Very glad to see the Arkansas State Legislature voted to overturn the Governor’s veto. Unfortunately there are some parents who irresponsibly do irreparable harm to their children. The child must be allowed to determine his/her own fate when reaching the age of adulthood.

  4. Rino’s are deceptive mongers of Evil.
Asa Hutchinson is a little more than a waste of food leading a state expecting to perform as Clinton did not too long ago. Like all Rino’s he is on Auto Pilot Evil.
This man is no good and has declared his evil intent before God

    1. His attitude and behavior can only confirm that he and those who stand with him are truly sick people. They have no business holding any kind of position of power. He should be impeached and long with the rest of the ilk.

  5. gender transition surgery, prescriptions, medical office visits, all reward the MD’s and the pharmaceutical industry. More big bucks in their pockets. Why would they oppose something so lucrative ? Ethics ? Nobody understands the meaning of the word anymore. The irreversible damage perpetrated on people too young to comprehend the long term consequences ought to be a crime.

  6. Clearly, this should not be the business of government. But the problem is our medical community admits individuals who are willing to violate its “do no harm” rule. Somehow, our nation has accepted that genital mutilation and hormone drugs are not harmful to children. Perhaps when millions of children are irreversibly damaged by their parents, the medical community will wake up.

  7. How is protecting children from these life altering decisions government overreach? There are other laws on the books for decades that prohibit children from certain activities as minors and politicians don’t consider these laws overreach. It is unlawful for minors to smoke or drink. Is this government overreach??

  8. Without seeing the wording of the bill how can we judge. If you are Catholic or Jewish circumcision is a religious thing. Some refer to it as genital mutilation and how traumatizing it is for the child. I have no memories of it. Would that not make this bill a unconstitutional violation of religious freedom.

  9. Kinda makes one think that there might just be more to this story. I wonder what else was in the bill to lead him to not sign it?

  10. GOOD THING ABOUT GENDER TRANSITION IS THE RECIPIENT IS STERILE AFTER ALTERATION MAYBE THEY WILL BREED THEMSELVES OUT SINCE THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE.

  11. Remember that if that piece of dog excrement comes up for re-election! Out with the twisted dems, pretending to be Conservative!

  12. This is not a Muslim nation cutting genital mutilation in girls. It’s not natural and ruining women for life because of Islamic beliefs. Giving children hormones as well should be a national outlaw. Democrats’ politics has changed our country’s moral values beginning with LBJ and his racist minority vote-buying by building highrises to help them. Giving millions of dollars will never bring social limitations in physical or mental ability, political or any other way to a higher standard of living. Educating and training a person to be independent and self-supporting improves morale, attitude, and perspective. Democrats haven’t learned this yet and they keep on handing out millions without any benefit.
