Washington, D.C. – The House voted 232-196 on Thursday to adopt a resolution creating rules for the divisive impeachment resolution Two House Democrats dissented, voting with Republicans against the resolution.

Representatives Jeff Van Drew (D-N.J.) and Collin Peterson (D-MN) were the lone Democratic “no” votes. Peterson is one of two remaining representatives who voted to authorize Bill Clinton’s impeachment in 1998. President Donald Trump won Peterson’s district by 31 points.

According to Fox News, Van Drew does not believe the allegations against Trump are enough to warrant impeachment.

What the two dissenting Democrats prove is this impeachment inquiry is a highly partisan smear campaign. Democrats cannot accept that Trump won in 2016, and will do everything they can to prevent a second term. Hence, the death by 1000 cuts strategy of endless investigations and inquiries. Not to mention the questionable leaks to the media.

Closed-door hearings and anonymous allegations are all Democrats have to target Trump. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi only held this vote in an attempt to stop accusations that this is a coup. Just look at this tweet from Pelosi for proof.

The only people afraid of the truth are the Democrats hiding behind closed doors. Those Democrats are the people hiding facts from the American people. Pelosi’s tweet is pure hypocrisy.

It is high time Congress tackled real issues instead of inventing talking points for the liberal media.
