The Left Roots Out Diversity of Thought

The New York Times is another intolerant lefty…

New York, NY – The left roots out diversity of opinion. With the current cancel culture, that will try to “cancel” anyone who doesn’t follow the groupthink of the extreme-far-left, diversity of opinion or any type of tolerance is not “tolerated” by the far-left.

This was on display again this week with the New York Times. The New York Times, once the flagship of all journalism, is now the flagship of all things liberal. However, it’s not just liberal, but it is extreme-far-left to the point where moderate/middle of the road people aren’t welcome on their pages.

The latest casualty is self-proclaimed “centrist” Bari Weiss, an editor and sometimes columnist at the New York Times. We here at the Citizen’s Press would consider her a lefty, however by today’s journalism’s standards, left of center is considered TOO conservative.

We are linking to her scathing letter of resignation HERE, and point out a couple of excerpts. Paragraph two of her letter sums up what is going on with the crazy-left sheeple in the media:

But the lessons that ought to have followed the election—lessons about the importance of understanding other Americans, the necessity of resisting tribalism, and the centrality of the free exchange of ideas to a democratic society—have not been learned. Instead, a new consensus has emerged in the press, but perhaps especially at this paper: that truth isn’t a process of collective discovery, but an orthodoxy already known to an enlightened few whose job is to inform everyone else.

Bari Weiss, Resignation Letter, June 15, 2020

Weiss was hired to help diversify the voices at the New York Times, after their attacks on President Trump and conservatives greatly backfired. Weiss, as we opined, is NO conservative. However, she does view the role of the press in its traditional way – to inform the public and let them make their own conclusions or decisions. The left roots out diversity of opinion.

Weiss continues about how bad the culture and process are at the New York Times:

Stories are chosen and told in a way to satisfy the narrowest of audiences, rather than to allow a curious public to read about the world and then draw their own conclusions. I was always taught that journalists were charged with writing the first rough draft of history. Now, history itself is one more ephemeral thing molded to fit the needs of a predetermined narrative.

Bari Weiss, Resignation Letter, June 15, 2020

She is correct; the lefty media is more about promoting a narrow narrative versus providing information. News is now used as a mass means of persuasion, on a specific far-left ideology. For our liberal readers thinking, “C’mon Citizen’s Press, you guys are a bunch of righties, aren’t you being hypocrites?!?!” No, we never purport to be anything but conservative – to balance out the liberal media narrative. We also try to be unbiased in our writing. We’re willing to give the left credit where credit is due, as our article yesterday pointed out that President Barack Obama was correct in denying FEMA Funds to cities ransacked by rioters.

How extreme has the New York Times, the flagship of the left become? As Weiss eloquently puts it:

The paper of record is, more and more, the record of those living in a distant galaxy, one whose concerns are profoundly removed from the lives of most people. This is a galaxy in which, to choose just a few recent examples, the Soviet space program is lauded for its “diversity”; the doxxing of teenagers in the name of justice is condoned; and the worst caste systems in human history includes the United States alongside Nazi Germany.

Bari Weiss, Resignation Letter, June 15, 2020

So, make no mistake – there is a narrative that is being pushed by the press, led by the New York Times. The best way to speak up is with your wallets. Do what the left does and boycott anyone who advertises with this so-called “News” paper that’s only function is a far-left megaphone. The left roots out diversity of opinion.
