Washington D.C. — Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) ripped the $2.3 trillion “spending monstrosity” omnibus bill that includes $900 billion in coronavirus “relief.”
Five other GOP Senators voted against the bill.
Paul compared his fellow Republicans’ support for the bill to the “socialism of Democrats.”
“To so-called conservatives who are quick to identify the socialism of Democrats: If you vote for this spending monstrosity, you are no better,” Paul said on the Senate floor.

“When you vote to pass out free money, you lose your soul and you abandon forever any semblance of moral or fiscal integrity,” he said, targeting his fellow Republicans.
Of course, Paul is correct.
Handing out so-called “free money” is the definition of the redistribution of wealth.
State and local governments around the country shut down businesses, eliminated jobs, and hurt hard-working families. They picked favorites, and it hurt our people and our economy.
The $600 per person checks are not a solution. In fact, they are an insult to every American and the founding principles of the United States.
Sure, $600 might help some. For those who lost jobs and businesses, it probably doesn’t go far enough.
Perhaps worse still, the omnibus spending bill sends tens of millions of dollars to other countries while many people hurt by government mandated shutdowns will never see any support.
In his speech, Paul called to eliminate wasteful spending, open businesses and the economy, and spare future generations from excessive debt.
This spending bill is a lose-lose for Americans.
