Washington D.C. — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is sending police to enforce quarantines on U.K. travelers. Those in violation face a fine of up to $1000 per day.
Officials blamed recent reports of a more contagious strain of COVID-19 developing in the U.K. for the authoritarian mandate. Over 40 countries already banned travel from the U.K.
According to de Blasio, “every single traveler coming from the U.K.” will be visited by police.
“We’re going to have sheriff’s deputies go to the home or the hotel of every single traveler coming in from the U.K.,” de Blasio said.

A drastic spike in violent crime is gripping New York City, and de Blasio wants to send police to babysit travelers.
November saw a 112 percent increase in shootings compared to last year. Through 11 months in 2020, shootings increased by 95 percent over 2019.
There were 115 shootings reported in November alone.
So, why do New York City officials like de Blasio want to harass travelers instead of focusing on crime?
The answer is simple. Bill de Blasio, Andrew Cuomo, and the rest of the crony politicians and bureaucrats in New York do not care about skyrocketing crime. They are too focused on consolidating their power and ruling over the people.
Violent crime in your neighborhood is your problem, not theirs.
Politicians like de Blasio see people who do not support government-mandated tyranny as criminals. For de Blasio, those who do not follow his hypocritical mandates are the problem.
People who violate arbitrary orders that are destroying their businesses and costing their jobs are the criminals. Those who travel from out of state to see their loved ones and do not follow every quarantine order are the criminals.
The greatest crime in the minds of tyrants like de Blasio is opposition to his authority. That is why he is sending sheriff’s deputies to U.K. travelers’ homes and hotel rooms. He will not tolerate dissent.
Perhaps it is time to stop tolerating tyrants.
