Washington, D.C. – Bernie Sanders’ campaign announced Wednesday, October 2, the Senator (D-VT) is suspending all campaign functions until further notice while recovering from surgery.

Sanders successfully underwent surgery, receiving two stents, and is recovering in a Las Vegas hospital. This did not stop the socialist presidential candidate from tweeting about his unaffordable “Medicare for All” plan.

Sanders’ health scare comes at a trying time for his campaign. In fact, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) surged to the front of the pack in a recent poll. According to the poll, Sanders trails Warren by 14 points and former Vice President Joe Biden by 8 points.

This spells bad news for Sanders, who will likely face increasing scrutiny after undergoing the surgery and canceling campaign events.

We question whether a healthy Bernie Sanders can overcome President Donald Trump in 2020. We expect Democrat primary voters will feel the same way.

So does this spell the end for Sanders’ dreams of the White House? Not necessarily, but things do not look great for the socialist from Vermont.
