Washington, D.C. — President Joe Biden demanded that governors, mayors, and local leaders reinstate mask mandates in an announcement on Monday.
“This is not politics. Reinstate the mandate if you let it down, and businesses should require masks as well,” Biden said.
Except, it is politics.
“The failure to take this virus seriously [is] precisely what got us into this mess in the first place,” he added.
People, for the most part, are taking the pandemic seriously. What they are not taking seriously are the elected officials and unelected bureaucrats who are dictating their lives.
Biden fell short of mandating masks (for now), but he agreed with a reporter that some states should not yet reopen. During the 2020 presidential campaign, Biden called on President Donald Trump to issue a national mask mandate.
Biden knows the mask mandates are unpopular, and that is why he does not want to issue an order himself.
People are fed up with their businesses being shut down and their livelihoods being taken away. Business owners and employees are tired of the uncertainty that comes with economic shutdowns. People need the economy to reopen as soon as possible.
Is Biden afraid that states successfully reopening will make the oppressive shutdowns in Democrat-led states look less effective than touted by the liberal media?
That is what is happening in Texas, which fully reopened over two weeks ago. Despite reopening, the state recorded its lowest 7-day COVID-19 positivity rate since beginning to collect that data.
Our country cannot survive on pork-filled stimulus packages while it is indefinitely shut down.

The Governors will either obey or all Federal funding will be cut off from that state. This has been very effective and it will be used again. The sad part of it is, it works. No state can afford to go it alone without Federal money for highways, etc.
