Arlington, VA – Sorry we missed this one. We found a great article that is very telling about life in the United States. This is especially relevant as some presidential candidates are proposing “Medicare for All” plans that will cost $21 trillion dollars or more. Who pays for it? We The People do, and we pay too much to our government masters.
Here’s the premise:

This is scary. We’ll post some of these statistics because someone did a little research and used simple math. What wasn’t completely incorporated into these calculations is what we pay in local and state sales tax. To put it bluntly, these calculations are understated, and we pay even more to our government.
American consumer units spent an average of $9,031.93 on federal income taxes; $5,023.73 on Social Security taxes (which the table calls “deductions”); $2,284.62 on state and local income taxes; $2,199.80 on property taxes; and $77.85 on what BLS calls “other taxes.”…The combined payments the average American consumer unit made for these five categories of taxes was $18,617.93…At the same time the average American consumer unit was paying these taxes, it was spending $7,923.19 on food; $4,968.44 on health care; and $1,866.48 on “apparel and services.”…These combined expenditures equaled $14,758.11.

So we pay about $4,000 LESS for basic living expenses than we pay in taxes. This is just crazy. Why should we have to work so hard just to pay our government masters? Should our hard-earned cash go to things of our choosing?
We’re not 100% anti-government, and we know most of us do enjoy some government services like roads. But if you think for one minute that the government is delivering value for our tax dollars, you are sorely mistaken.
This was a very interesting article, and it has a podcast, we recommend you read it.
So, next time you hear some libs or anyone talking about taxes and wanting free stuff, tell them that you already pay for too much of their free stuff. You have the data, use it!

My expenditures include quite a lot for housing. You omittted it.
The statement was: “Americans on average spent more on taxes in 2018 than they did on the basic necessities of food, clothing and health care combined, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey.”
Mortgage or rent wasn’t factored. Perhaps the unfortunate title of this article misled you.
