
Albany, NY – Governor Andrew Cuomo accepted an Emmy award for his COVID-19 press briefings despite New York suffering the second-highest death rate in the country.
Cuomo received the Emmy “in recognition of his leadership during the Covid19 pandemic & his masterful use of TV to inform & calm people around the world.”

Cuomo is receiving backlash for accepting the award in the wake of his deadly nursing home policies.
The New York governor ordered COVID-19 positive patients to be accepted into nursing homes. A likely result of that policy is New York’s prize of the second-highest death rate in the United States behind New Jersey.
In New York, 176 per 100,000 people have died from the coronavirus.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is also under fire for closing NYC schools, despite the CDC advising schools to stay open.
Cuomo received an Emmy for his COVID-19 press briefings, and New York got the shaft.
