GRAPHIC: The New York Times is Obsessed With Trump

Yeah, The New York Times is a problem…

New York, NY – If you’re a conservative, moderate, liberal, or just about anything in between, you know how obsessed the media is with President Donald Trump. Plus, if you’ve been following what was once America’s premier daily – The New York Times, you know they are always covering Trump.

If you’re objective, you will also realize that almost everything they write about Trump is not flattering to the President, to say the least. They seem to have just about non-stop (mostly negative) coverage of their fellow former New Yorker.

Well, it doesn’t just seem that they cover the President a lot, and there is data to back this up. In fact, based on the data, you can safely say they’re obsessed.

If you’re one of our liberal or anti-Trump readers, this would be the point where you start claiming we’re a fake conservative news website and question our credibility. Well, you’d be wrong as usual. This time, the watchdog we’re citing is a liberal watchdog by our measure, The Columbia Journalism Review (CJR).

They have some nifty statistics in their article and a great line chart. We give full credit to CJR for this research. It’s important information for the public to have, and we want to share it. Here’s the chart:

So, as you can see from the chart of The New York Times coverage, there is a YUGE spike in coverage of Trump versus other presidents. Clearly, The New York Times liked Obama for a while, but if they actually did their job during his administration and went after him like they do Trump, the 2012 election may have had a different outcome. Benghazi anyone?

We also give the author from CJR kudos for this quote:

Members of the press need to rethink their instinct to write endless Trump stories. That doesn’t mean a more aggressive posture; the alignment between the press and Trump’s ‘resistance’ has been part of the problem: In terms of endorsements and direct financial support, reporters and media organizations rallied behind Clinton’s candidacy (and against Trump’s) in a manner that was unlike any other contemporary election cycle.

Musa al-Gharbi, Columbia Journalism Review, NOVEMBER 13, 2019

What the author is pointing to here is the growing discontent with the media by the American public. The constant onslaught on Trump is creating distrust with the people, many of whom believe the coverage is unfair.

Without objective journalism to balance the narrative, legacy news sources like The New York Times appear to be no more than partisan attack dogs for the left.

This is not necessarily a bad thing when news sources espouse their bias. For example, we openly admit our conservative leanings. The New York Times, however, does not.

The Columbia Journalism Review prides itself on being an unbiased watchdog for journalism. They seem to want to keep the profession going and keep it ethical. We believe this article aligns with that spirit, and we hope they continue doing work like this.
