Washington, D.C. — Transgender U.S. Olympic Athlete, Chelsea Wolfe, threatened to burn the American flag at the podium.
Last year, Wolfe stated that her “goal is to win the Olympics” so she can “burn a US flag on the podium.”
Wolfe has earned a coveted position as a U.S. Olympic athlete despite her obvious contempt for the country.
The U.S. Olympic team has no business sending an athlete who put out this statement.
This is a terrible representation of the United States. It feeds into hate and undermines American unity on the world stage.
There was an absolute circus surrounding the U.S. women’s soccer team carelessly throwing the American flag on the ground for a photo op after winning the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Many back home considered the move disrespectful to the United States.
Now, imagine the backlash against a U.S. athlete setting an American flag on fire on the Olympic podium. Surely nobody would argue it is a much greater offense than dropping the flag for a photo in the heat of the moment (not that this is an excuse). The repercussions both at home and abroad would be devastating.
Unless widely condemned by the media, U.S. citizens would only find themselves further divided when people are forced to take sides. Our enemies around the world would laugh and view the country after such a public display of anti-American sentiment.
Considering this, the U.S. Olympic team should think very carefully about allowing Wolfe the opportunity to compete as a representative of the United States.
Wolfe qualified as an alternate, meaning she will not participate unless one of her two teammates (Hannah Roberts or Perris Benegas) drops out.
Wolfe’s status as a transgender athlete also raises questions for the U.S. Olympic team.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) does have rules specifying whether or not a transgender female athlete is allowed to participate.
The athlete must have declared their gender as female, and they cannot change the declaration for four years. They also must prove that their testosterone level is below a certain threshold for 12 months prior to the first competition.
Timothy Roberts, MD, MPH, told Healio that the current requirement “may be too short” to ensure fair competition.
“Transwomen are currently mandated by World Athletics and the International Olympic Committee to have 1 year of testosterone suppression before being permitted to compete at the elite level,” Roberts said. “This may be too short if the aim is a level playing field.”

Roberts pointed out that transgender women consistently outperform biological women over a year after they start hormone replacement treatments.
If that is true, contrary to the IOC, transgender female athletes cannot fairly compete against biological females after only one year.

I agree no American Athlete should be allowed to compete for our Country if they hate it. A trans person should only be competing against all other TRANS. ppl ,not competing against a real woman . Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.
IT probably is not aware that burning is the accepted solemn and respectful manner of destroying a soiled/damaged flag.

Our tax Dollars have been funding them for a long time.

So as a “former” male, with all the muscle mass and tendon strength that goes with it this Chelsea Wolfe managed to become an alternate in BMX racing to females that have been female all their lives, now that is quite an accomplishment indeed. Btw, alternates don’t compete, and if they do the usually don’t win because they are not even the best members of their own team, but keep dreaming big, maybe you can compete against children in the future!

I live in Colorado Springs, home of the U.S. Olympic Committee. That organization has move so far left that I won’t support them of visit either of their museums here in town. The fact that their athletes were told that is alright to take a knee during our National Anthem told me all I need to know about their pride in our country. They SUCK !!

Olympic athletes are representing our country. Disrespect of our flag or country or threatening to disrespect automatically disqualifies them from representing the Olympic team. Anyone who was representing a private company and disrespected the company in that way would not only be pulled from the representation but also probably fired. Athletes should be required to sign affidavits promising to not malign or bring dishonor to their country in that way or face legal repercussions. .
