Tancredo: A Tale of Two Murders

By: Tom Tancredo

Far too many murders occur every day in this country, but two that occurred in the past year are worth a careful look, as they tell us some very interesting and even scary things about the nation we live in today.

There are some striking similarities between the two events. Both murders were committed by cops. Both of the victims were engaged in illegal activities at the time of their murder. Both victims were unarmed at the time of their death, and neither posed a threat to the police when they were executed. Both murders had scores of witnesses, and both made the national news.

Now the differences. One victim was a black male, and the other a white female. The black male was killed by a white cop, the white female by a black cop. The male victim had a long criminal history and was under the influence of drugs. When he was confronted by the police, he resisted arrest. The female victim was a 35-year-old Air Force veteran who was not resisting arrest when she died. Of course, I am talking about the murders of George Floyd and Ashli Babbitt.

There are more differences that need to be pointed out. The murderer of George Floyd was just found guilty and will soon be sentenced. His name is Derek Chauvin. The Department of Justice announced the other day that no charges would be brought against the murderer of Ashli Babbitt – and that cop’s name will not be released.

George Floyd’s family received a record amount of $27 million from the city of Minneapolis to settle a wrongful death suit. The President of the United States called Floyd’s family before the verdict to say he was praying that Chauvin would be found guilty. No high-profile elected official has even bothered to offer condolences to Ashli Babbitt’s family. No governmental agency has even considered financial support for Ashli Babbitt’s family.

Millions of sympathetic words have been written and delivered daily by the national media for George Floyd since his tragic death; there are even plans to erect monuments to him in Minneapolis. He will probably appear in American History textbooks and be portrayed there as a martyr. Ashli Babbitt will, to the extent her name is ever mentioned in historical reference books, be vilified as a right-wing fanatic who died while participating in an “insurrection.”

Nancy Pelosi thanked George Floyd for sacrificing his life for justice. She said his name will always be “synonymous with justice.” Well, in my book, the way these two victims were treated makes Ashli Babbitt’s name synonymous with injustice.

  1. The forces behind this outrageous behavior of our media & officials shows clearly the scary condition our Union is in! It looks like folks r allowing the destruction of our cities & the aggression of rioters against innocent folks out to dinner to happen without resistance…I hope am never near this as I may die not being able to tolerate this radical behavior 🤢🤢
We do not put libs in their place neither hold them accountable 4 lying & causing deep divisions between us. Conservatives do not unite against them but only bicker amongst ea other with few exceptions! Too many pushovers!! God help us all🙏🙏

  2. This is a textbook case of a world turned upside down. Where right is now wrong, and wrong is now right thanks to the new administration now in power. The treatment of Ms. Babbitt’s “murder” (And it is “murder”) is disgraceful. I hope that Ms. Babbitt’s family and legal team pursues correcting this injustice. Excellent analysis by the author!

  3. This country is doomed and the Democrats have proven that they can control ALL elections. They have forced their liberal agenda down our throats, threatened to literally abolish our constitution, elected a complete moron for president and a liar, whore, racist, socialist Vice President who failed miserably in her bid for president. I firmly believe that there will never be another Republican elected president as Schumer stated “We’ll have elections just to appease the masses but we are in control.” The sheeples are being led to slaughter by the liberals and they don’t even know it. God help this nation because we desperately need it!!!

  4. LISTEN UP…DEREK CHAUVIN did NOT get a FAIR TRIAL. IT was COMPROMISED. GE ORGE FLOYD Committed SUICIDE. AS HLI BABBITT was MURDERED. When is it OK to Shoot an Unarmed Person??? HER FAMILY Deserves FINANCIAL COMPENSATION for Their LOSS. SHE Deserves RESPECT. SHE served This COUNTRY in the MILITARY. SHE WORKED HARD. Something is NOT RIGHT in This SCENARIO Between GEORGE FLOYD and ASHLI BABBITT. THANKYOU to the REPORTER Who has Brought the MATTER to LIGHT. From SamuraiQueen. 😄😄😄

  5. This is almost fact but murder in the Floyd case is a wrong claim as there was no intent to kill, manslaughter yes murder no. But when you shoot a firearm at someone the intent is to kill. And at that time I don’t believe the officer could have feared for his life so murder yes, the fact is justice is not as blind as it is supposed to be which creates problems with trust.

  6. Your days are numbered old woman 2022 is coming for you say good bye as speaker you really did a lousy job of it!

  7. Both of these “high profile” cases could have been averted if the so-called “murdered” people had not been breaking the law. Floyd was a useless human, a convicted criminal, had just broken the law yet again. Everyone knows that, but he’s been made a saint and martyr by the people who will benefit from the racial aspects. He’s now “useful” to continue fomenting hatred and divisiveness in the nation. Babbitt is really the same story except as far as is known she didn’t have a criminal record, but she was still breaking the law and if she really died, which is questionable, it was staged to make Donald Trump look bad. The administration who benefits from both of these events hopes to gain a permanent foothold in the government, though the race card will not be used in Babbitt’s case. They will obviously stop at nothing, and no lives are more important than their objectives.

    1. Thank you, Norma Byrd,
Ashli is from my city of San Diego and I am appalled at the lack of interest in her case.
No publicity, no renumeration; she was definiitely murdered, unarmed, why hasn’t she had
      1/10tth the coverage Floyd did?
We just may be in for a “bloody war”, as nothing else seems to stop the left’s agenda.!

  8. One was white on black in plain sight, the country watched! The other was a black coward cop who came out of nowhere and shot an unarmed, non threatening white female! The first will go to jail the second because he was black get off scot free, that is what racism is all about! Floyd resisted Babbitt did NOT and was shot point blank and then he ran and hid like the coward he is! BLMers your a joke you were had by that Marxist woman Patrice Cullors she used your funds to buy 4 luxury homes around the country to the tune of 3.2 million I think you all were had big time! And this was a black woman who professed to be a Marxist and destroy capitalism, FYI she is the personification of capitalism and a hypocrite!

  9. It is clear that there are a least three forms of ”Justice”. The one for politicians, our ”betters” as the Brits used to say. They get to have a slush fund, paid for by the American Taxpayer to sexually harass, rape women, avoid prosecution or even investigation of Pedophilia, and misuse of influence and the laws that apply to the American Taxpayer ( or flunky). The second type of ”Justice” is for the Career Criminals, those people who victimize members of their own race, who condone and support the Murder of Millions of poor unborn people of color and. And finally the Justice for you and I, which has been written down by the same Criminal Politicians who defame us, burden us with Taxes and who prevent us from exercising our Constitutional Rights and seek to and actively work to destroy it even as they pledge to defend that Constitution.

  10. Obviously, Floyd was murdered. that video is irrefuteable! 1 Very possibly, chauvin intended only to arrogantly assert power in a sick way wanting to cause floyd horrible suffering and humiliation. He instead unintentionally killed him. In any case, the verdict f the jury was just. For Floyd, an obviously not very admirable or good person to be idolized as a martyr is rediculous and wrong.Babbit was breaking and entering. She made a horrible decision that put herself in danger. The cop was protecting the capitol from invaders and babbit unfortunately choose to be one of them. It is wrong to call her killer a murderer. He was just doing his job. Her death is tragic , but she was breaking and entering at the capitol.babbit’s death is absolutely heartbreaking, but the cop was not to blame for trying to stop the invasion.Floyd’s death is also tragic, but he is very obviously not a good person and is no hero nor martyr.Chauvin is a sadistic person who should have never ever been a cop. He received a just verdict even if his intention was just to cruelly torture rather than murder. The cop who killed Babbit may be a really good person who was thrust into a difficult situation by Babbit’s very wrong actions. He had to make quick decision under pressure. We live insuch strange and chaotic times that I am glad the cop who shot babbit cannot be identified. Only God knows whether or not he was wrong in any way. Both babbit and floys were lawbreakers. Babbit was obviously a much better person, but that does not excuse her breaking and enteringthe captol.

  11. Ashli Babbitt will be to the first American dictatorship what John Birch was to communism. Birch was the first American killed by communism and Babbitt is the first American killed by the dictatorship.

  12. George Floyd died as a result of the drugs he was selling that he swallowed. That includes fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, and alcohol; all found in his bloodstream during the autopsy. He resisted arrest, was held down on the ground by the cop’s knee on the back of his neck; but was never murdered. The drugs interacted with his already damaged internal organs from long term drug use; and he died as a result. There is no way the hold could’ve killed him. Ashli Babbitt was shot point blank as she was coming through a broken window, unarmed, unthreatening, and absolutely no threat to the security, weaponless, with no criminal record, gunned down in an heinous act of homicide by the cop. George Floyd had a long list of drug-related offenses, assaults, and weapons charges, and was a career criminal; having spent most of his adult life in prison. That’s the main difference. Convicting Derek Chauvin of a murder he did not commit proves that mob rule is in charge of our courts because of threats by BLM domestic terrorists.

  13. Those who control the media, control the masses. We must do what we can to prevent the media from being controlled by any faction. So many wrongs are being allowed to occur while more wrongs are being promoted because the media has sided with the current Progressive (Socialist) propagandists in powerful political positions. Stop the hate by exposing all of the truth.

  14. In reference to Ms. Babbitt’s case. You say that she was an “invader” of the Capital building and the officer “…was just doing his job?” By your own admission Ms. Babbitt was “breaking and entering.” Any peace officer who was in the same situation would be immediately taken to task for using “deadly force” on a perpetrator engaged in essentially a property crime. Based on the situation there was no indication that these perpetrators were armed. This was a lieutenant who fired the fatal shot killing Ms. Babbitt. He wasn’t a rookie police officer. He, in particular, should have known the protocols under which he could use “deadly force.” At the least this, is extreme negligence, and at the worse, outright murder!

  15. Well folks, as I recall George Floyd was not a menace to anyone the day he died … whereas in the case of Ms. Babbitt she was a willing participant in a group shouting
    « Hang Mike Pence » !
I guess we are not about to see « Patriots » again yelling « Hang the VP » …

  16. Regarding the death (murder??) of the female Air Force Veteran, let’s have some factual data.
