Albany, NY — Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) extended his mask mandate this past weekend with one caveat, if you show “proof” of vaccination, then citizens are exempt from having to wear a mask.
“Vaccines not only protect you and your loved ones from getting this deadly virus but also allows Colorado to return back to normal,” said Polis.
“Reaching a high level of immunity is what will allow for a life without masks, but before that is possible, many more Coloradans need to get vaccinated,” he added.
The Colorado Governor is known for threading the needle with these kinds of announcements, but the latest announcement was not well received on social media, receiving several comments blasting the governor for the decision.
Outraged commenters on the local paper, The Gazette’s Facebook page, accused the governor of violating HIPAA privacy standards and trampling their Constitutional rights.
Vaccines have a touchy history in Colorado, and folks in favor of having a personal choice on whether or not they get vaccinated is not necessarily a partisan issue.
Having some of the lowest vaccination rates prior to the COVID vaccine, Colorado is also consistently rated the healthiest state in the country. The two stats don’t necessarily coordinate with each other, but it does offer some insight.
The Colorado Governor may have some work cut out for him when he’s demanding a crowd of fitness fanatics to show papers in order to hang out with friends.
According to a website updated by the state, nearly 47% of Coloradans are at least partially vaccinated at this time.

This guy must think his election to represent his state was like being a king. He has said that he has control of my body but HE WAS WRONG. Further his restrictions cannot override the Constitution which expressly allows travel without his approval. Now if you agree with him that too is your decision not mine. To me restrictions are a first run or step to allowing dictator style government to prosper.

Apparently Mr. Polis is scientifically illiterate enough to believe that a vaccine, even if it should happen to be a genuinely useful one, is the only way to acquire immunity. Why else would he ignoring immunity acquired from successfully fighting off the bug with a healthy immune system–without any artificial goosing from a vaccine and without the immune-compromising additives of a vaccine?
I agree!! I cannot have the vaccine due to anaphylactic shock result in the past. I’m not a candidate. Polis is grouping people into two groups, but there are other groups that cannot take the risk like in my case?? What does he say about those of us who don’t want to take the high risk of possible death from the vaccine??
The whole thing is a scam by democrats to take control of everyone’s life. No way will I get the vaccine nor do I ever wear a mask. If a business tries to make me I just put it on my neck, Pelosi style, when I get in. And King Polis will never tell me how many people I can have in my own house. Gov Polis has shown many times that he is a Demo Tool. He has been accepting infected illegals into Colorado. Any governor who does that is not protecting his citizens. We knew this when he was elected and he’s proved it any number of times. Colorado has it’s own infection known as Californication.
